Greetings 5,000 El Sayulero Readers,

Wow, an even number of 5000 subscribers as of 2PM today!  Thanks so much to all our wonderful contributors who make this freely newsletter available to everyone every Friday.

Okay, get ready for Semana Santa everyone!  Its that time of year again when inland Mexico families flock to the beaches for a week  to 10 days of  waves, sun, sand and fun.  You may wish to stock up on supplies early this next week as lines in the stores become long and products tend to be in short supply.  A lot of out-of-towners will be visiting Sayulita over the next two weeks so please remember to keep an extra eye on your possessions, shut the gates/doors to you property and keep your car locked up with valuables out of site.  And please, try to refrain from driving as much as possible.

SayulitaLife.com added a few new business to our website this week and invite you to check out what they all offer.

Not to miss:  Sea Green home furnishings in having a Going-Out-Of-Business sale for the entire month of April.

Saludos,

Ian Hodge

Saludos,

Ian Hodge

Eighty percent of the animals were brought in by local families. The clinic also had six cat traps in action and sterilized 10 feral cats slowly gaining control over the surplus of feral cats in the area. Along with spays and neuters, the Medical Aid Program was given a boost by three emergency cancer operations, as well as the removal of a glaucoma ridden eye. More->

ATMThe ATM machine located outside Chocobanana restaurant was reported stolen on Tuesday, March 23rd.  It is suspected that the crime occurred between 4 AM and 5 AM that same morning. The last robbery of this same ATM involved a blow torch. Police could not give further detail as to how it is speculated the machine was stolen this time but the head police chief says more security measures will be taken to ensure the incident does not happen yet again. At the present moment it is not clear if a replacement ATM will arrive; a machine perhaps better bolted and secured with camera surveillance.

Farmers MarketSpeaking of Sayuleros getting out there and making their visions a reality (not to mention the merits of market shopping, and supporting local business), Sayulita will soon have its own weekly Farmers' Market, thanks to the efforts of a group of local women. Is Sayulita a Safe Place to Travel?
By: Yésica Doreli Ramos Gómez

Saylita TravelSome of my American friends on Facebook are a little concerned about the violence in Mexico, initiated by the drug war. They ask: "is it safe to travel to Sayulita? Have you been shot? Have you seen any shooting? Do you know any narco? Etc..." and i just read it with a smile on my face. Yes, I am concerned too. I love my country and it breaks my heart that all the violence in the north has taken so many lives and shed too much blood. But no, I a have not been shot, I have not seen any shooting and I do not know any narco (as much as that sounds so worldly) and yes, it is safe to travel to Sayulita! More->

Lifegaurds On The Beach- A Beginning.

By: Grupo Pro Sayulita

GPSIn a very minor way, Grupo Pro Sayulita has helped to make the municipal police office at the playa more secure (with window bars and locks) in order to serve double duty as a lifeguard office.  In addition, GPS has purchased tall poles to be used for warning flags and to post signs.  Roberto Villavicencio has started a part-time lifeguard watch on the beach, for the weekends and through Semana Santa.

Pet of the Week
"Bella"

bellaThis dog is, believe it or not, a German Shepherd. Bella, as we call her, was almost dying from pure neglect by her owners. The mange is being treated and she already looks much better then just a week ago and her spirit is up and happy again. It's only a matter of time, adequate treatment and healthy food till Bella will be fully recuperated.  She is becoming the beautiful , playful, well behaved and gentle dog that she was before she was totally neglected. One of her legs is crooked due to an accident when she was little and nobody took care of the injury. To find her a gentle and responsible owner would be a huge happiness.*
