SayulitAnimals Pet of the Week "Nina" Nina is not for adoption yet. She needs your help in another way. For the last year she lived with a local family who saved her from being shot because she killed a hen. They tied her up behind their house to a tree with a 3 foot leash. Because she never had the chance to run nor even walk around, her nails grew into long claws. Out of neglect and having to live tied to a tree month after month, she got very sick. Finally a neighbor couldn't bare listening to her cries anymore, untied her and took her into her care.
She needs medicine, food, water, exercise (Nina is a Husky!) and love. We found a good soul who will sponsor the medicine, now we are asking you to help us by providing Nina's food. She has a huge appetite and is finally gaining weight. The food cost is approximately 350 pesos/month. On behalf of sweet Nina who is fighting hard to get her health and freedom back, I thank you!
If you would like to get to know this pet a little more and/or are interested in offering it a new home please contact SayulitAnimals for more information.

Home & Away: Help, I can't breath!!!
The first meeting with our prestanombre always leaves me gasping for breath.Part of it, of course,is the ever-increasing money it seems the Mexican government is determined to bleed out of us.Even if we wanted to sell our property, which we most definitely don't, we'd face an unwelcome dilemma:if we were to try to sell without regularizing the property first, it would take a rich and brave soul to purchase.I doubt we would, knowing what we know now.But
we can just barely pay the exorbitant sum expected of us to regularize,
that cost which would then be added to the price of our home. The regularization will cost considerably more than we paid for our land. But enough about that, it's too depressing. more-> (Seriously, you really want more?)

Sayulita by Andrea
Villarrubia (Andrea's Mothering Blog, ¡Que Madre!, because Mothering is cool.)
Last week I laid out a few New Year's resolutions, one of them being to
find out more about someone you see every day. In this spirit, I
thought it would be fun to spotlight a local youngster, and learn more
about what brought her family to Sayulita, and what she thinks about
living here. Astrid Vanya Netanya Galitzine Dea-Sherman lives in the Tamarindo neighborhood with her mom, Treva Dea, her pop, Nick Sherman, and their 9 (!) pets (4 dogs, 5 cats). more->

When my housekeeper, Belan, invited me to her daughter Irma's
"Quinceañera", I had no idea what to expect, but I was totally taken
with the beauty of the ceremony that took place at the church.

Sayulita Health
A very common belief among the visitors of Sayulita is that
emergencies that we attend in the office have to do with drunk people
or junkies, and this is not true, the most frequent
emergencies in the village are:
Surf-related accidents: These are the most
frequent. Among these problems that we have attended are
concussions, twisted ankles, fractures and skin wounds.
Medical Emergencies: Hypertensive crisis, heart attacks, asthma attacks, accidental falls and / or accidental knocks.
Insects or bug related Emergencies: scorpion sting, stingray sting, jellyfish contact. more->
siguientes. mas->
