Happy New Year 5,309 El Sayulero Readers,
 The New Year brings a lot of new changes to El
Sayulero. As you will see below, we
have shortened our email version of the newsletter and launched a new website (www.ElSayulero.com) where you can read all of
the articles every week.
New Contributors:
El Sayulero welcomes Jose
Luis Caselin, Donna Day, Letitia Gumby, and Yésica Doreli Ramos Gómez. These writers
now have their own sections and will be writing for all of you each and every
week. We welcome them aboard and
look forward to their contributions every Friday.
Our format is new, our format is untested, our format has
been created by volunteer writers who love this village. Please be patient with us as we
finalize our new formatting over the next few weeks.
Let me know if you would like to see any changes or if there
are any errors to report. We need
to know these types of things before we can fix them.

Schocks Celebrate 40 Years in Sayulita
 Ever wondered what Sayulita looked like before it had telephones,
Internet service, cars, surfers or tourists? One local family doesn't
have to wonder: these are their first memories of our town. Carolina and La Rue Schock, along with their children Kimberly and
Aaron, are celebrating their 40th anniversary of living in Sayulita.
When the family arrived here in 1969, this pueblo was a tiny fishing

vez se preguntó qué Sayulita parecía antes de que se había teléfonos,
servicio de Internet, los coches, los surfistas o turistas? Una familia local no tiene que preguntarse: ¿estos son sus primeros recuerdos de nuestra ciudad. Sayulita's Third Beach Clean-up
 On December 19th Punta Sayulita organized the 3rd beach clean-up event
which was well attended by a mix of locals including business owners,
surfers, fisherman and children brought to the event by their parents
which was great to see. More->
El pasado Sábado 19 de Diciembre Punta Sayulita organizó la 3ª limpieza de playa en Sayulita,evento
que contó con la asistencia de una mezcla de voluntarios locales y de
otras comunidades así como propietarios de negocios, surfistas,
pescadores y niños quellegaron al evento acompañados de
sus padres y fue muy bueno ver esta respuesta de parte de ellos. La
limpieza de playa atrajo además a visitantes yturistas que se enteraron del evento y ofrecieron su apoyo y aesta
causa. Ver turistas participar fue maravilloso y demuestran que ellos
además de disfrutar del pueblo de Sayulita, igualmente se preocupan por
el.

Sayulitanimals Lives On
 Yes, Sayulitanimals will continue offering its most important services to dogs and cats here in Sayulita.
It's true changes are happening: the office's two veterinarians, Marco
Octavio Alvidrez Garcia and Paola Ocampo, left the clinic as of Dec.
23. They told Sayulero they want independence and will open their own
clinic in 2010. more->
Sí, Sayulitanimals seguirá ofreciendo sus servicios más importantes para los perros y gatos aquí. Es
verdaderos cambios están sucediendo: dos veterinarios de la oficina,

that no one can describe, it is a place where people instantly feels at
home: you will always come back, its like time has stopped running. When I was a teenager I used to idealize Sayulita like the town of
Comala that the great Juan Rulfo described in his book "Pedro Paramo",
now I can say that I idealize it like Macondo of Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Bienvenidos a Mexico, a mi bonito y magico Sayulita. Si esta es su
primera vez aqui, no se decepcionaran; sayulita tiene algo que nadie
puede describir, es un lugar donde la gente se siente como en casa:
siempre regresan, es como si el tiempo parara su marcha. Cuando yo era
adolescente, solia idealizar a sayulita como el mitico Comala que el

SayulitAnimals Pet of the Week
"Petito"
 Petito is called that way because he is so petit. He is the puppy you might have seen on Av. Revolucion hanging around and looking for food. He was so skinny, obvioulsy starving, and too weak to walk on sturdy legs. Two members of Sayulitanimals picked him up, got him checked by Paolo at the clinic and treated his kidney infection. After only 2 weeks of care, good food, fresh water, daily walks and loving, Petito is in perfect health and putting on some pounds. He isn't fully grown yet but will keep his small frame and posture. He is lively and has a happy personality. A sweet dog who could make your days just that much happier.
 Petito se llama asi por ser tan pequeno (petit en frances). Tal vez lo has visto algunas veces en Av. Revolucion buscando comida. Era tan flaco, obviamente muriendo de hambre y asi de debil que ni podia caminar bien. Dos miembros de Sayulitanimals lo recojieron, llevaron a la clinic para tener una consultacion con Paola y curaron su infeccion de los rinones. Ahora, despues de solo dos semanas de cuidado, comida sana, agua fresca, caminatas diarias y carino se encuentra en buena salud. Todavia crecera un poquito pero se mantenga su postura chica. Esta lleno de vida y tiene una personalidad alegre. Un perrito dulce que podria hacer

Sayulita Loses a Resident
 On Wednesday morning at around 3AM Sayulita lost one of it USA
residents, Franco Mares when he passed away at the hospital in San Pancho.
Mares had esophagitis and had been feeling ill for a couple of days
after eating a meal containing red meat. Close friends spent three
hours with him in the emergency room on Tuesday night where he was
lucid but in a lot of discomfort. He had been bleeding internally, and
the ER doctor on duty reported the bleeding had stopped but
unfortunately too many complications had already arisen.

la mañana del miércoles a cerca de las 3 Sayulita perdido a uno de sus
residentes EE.UU., Franco Mares, cuando falleció en el hospital de San
Pancho. Mares había esofagitis y se había sentido mal durante un par de días después de comer una comida con carne roja. Los
amigos íntimos durante tres horas con él en la sala de emergencia en la
noche del martes cuando estaba lúcido, pero en una gran cantidad de
molestias. Había
sido hemorragia interna, y el médico de urgencias de turno informó de
la hemorragia se había detenido, pero lamentablemente demasiadas
complicaciones ya se había planteado.

"Last week I was looking at the snowdrift outside my house and cursing
it, and the new shovel The Husband honestly thought I would like for my
birthday. Over my dead body. Or his, if I get to the shovel first. Now
we're back in our beautiful home in beautiful Sayulita and I'm looking
at the jungle we call a garden and cursing it, and the new machete I
honestly thought The Husband would like for Christmas." more->

el dios romano con dos caras, una mirando hacia atrás y uno hacia
adelante, nos da el mes de enero, así como una excusa para la
auto-indulgente revolcarse en duda y sueña con cosas mejores.
La
semana pasada estuve mirando la nieve acumulada fuera de mi casa y la
maldición, y la pala El nuevo marido honestamente pensado que me

Sayulita has always been about surf for me, mostly because of my
husband, the veteran surfer. It's inevitable that a lot of my pictures
have surfboards and my husband in them. Luckily, they are both good
subjects.

 Swimmers Ear: It's almost inevitable to come to Sayulita and not enjoying either
surfing or swimming, don't you agree? The only problem is getting that
water out of your ear in a proper way so it doesn't become infected.

When was your first time in Sayulita? When I was 14 years old I
first visited Sayulita because my sister Tere and her husband owned
property here. I felt even back then that this was a wonderful village
where I could relax and learn to paint. more ->
Primera vez en Sayulita? Cuando yo tenía 14 años
visité por primera vez en Sayulita, porque mi hermana Tere y su marido
