New Opening Hours 
 
All 3 Kazari locations will now be closed on Sundays 
 
 
Private appointments can however be made on Sundays and other days after hours.
 
Updates will be made for special Sunday openings for exhibitions and specific events such as the last day of the Furnitre SALE at Kazari Decorator, this weekend.

Making Marks: inspired by the brush

Four artists show works exploring different ways of making their marks. Senior artist John Bartlett showing new encaustic on aluminium works portraying symbols of the east with textured surfaces and expressions of space. Japanese born calligrapher Junko Azukawa showing contemporary sumi-e ink pieces. Harriet Posner investigates movement and stroke in callgraphy influenced, abstract works. Krista Stewart makes her debut at Kazari with abstract works of minimalistic approach through form, line and colour.

Japanese Art Market Report -Robert Joyce 
World record for Japanese work of Art in New York:
An early Kamakura period (1190s) statue of a Dainichi Nyorai (66.1cm high) attributed to Unkei (d.1223), the great sculptor of the Kamakura period sold for over $14.3 million USD at Christies New York in March 2008 to a Japanese buyer.
 
In our own backyard a beautiful gilded statue of Amida Buddha c.1800, seated on a circular lotus base, measuring 40cm high made over $31,000 AUD at Mossgreen's latest Oriental Art auction (lot 32), more than twice the upper estimate. read on

Unique art tours of Japan lead by internationally renowned art historian Dr. Gary Hickey; senior member of staff at Melbourne University and former curator at The National Gallery of Australia and National Gallery of Victoria, along with his wife Haruyo Maeda.

Gary Hickey now contributes scholarship and research to important works held by Kazari and will offer his collection for sale, through exhibition at Kazari during September, of professionally acquired historical Japanese prints and artwork.   
 
He will be guest speaker at a special dinner at Kazari with in-house chef, Emiko Rogers planned for July, and will also hold information evenings at Kazari Collector in the coming months - to register interest in the dinner or the information evenings contact: info@kazari.com.au

From Mao To Now
Sydney Olympic Park, Armoury Gallery 
Three Kazari artists Zhou Xiaoping, Lou Xiang, and Benedict Ernst have been chosen to include major works in the exhibition hosted by the Sydney Olympic Park Authority and running concurrently with the Beijing Olympics. The exhibition focuses on Chinese propaganda and sport posters and contemporary artists' responses to modern China.

Black Robe, White Mist: Art of the Buddhist Nun Rengetsu
Calligraphy, painting, poems and tea ceremony ceramics from the Japanese Buddhist Nun exhibited at the RMIT gallery, Swanston St. A travelling exhibition from the National Gallery of Australia.

 The Moon in Reflection: The Art of Kim Hoa Tram
 
Vietnamese born Australian artist Kim Hoa Tram exhibiting ink paintings and calligraphy in the Asian Art Temporary Exhibition Space, Level 1, National Gallery of Victoria International.
