Summer of New Faces
jessica

Jessica Felts, our 2011 summer intern, came to us from the University of Virginia where she is studying Business and Marketing.

"I contacted VOICE after reading Angela's book in early spring. This was exactly the type of organization I wanted to work with this summer... where I could gain experience AND make a difference. Little did I know how my "job" here would impact my life. Tom and Angela turned into mentors rather than bosses. I have found that my experience here and being able to talk about what I'm doing this summer has enabled me to open the doors to fruitful conversation with familiy, neighbors, and friends, some of whom are seeking the resources VOICE offers. This summer changed my life. I may be going back to Virginia for school, but I won't be far from the VOICE movement, that's for sure." - Jessica

Julie Ganter, our 2011 summer grant research intern, came to us from Georgia Tech where she is studying Business Administration.

"I first learned about VOICE Today when a sister in my sorority sent out an e-mail about a possible summer internship opportunity. At first I was expecting what any college student would expect out of any internship: experience and one more thing to put on my resume. I can honestly tell you that I gained so much more than that. Through working with VOICE I learned so much about an issue that effects so many of our friends and neighbors. Sexual abuse is truly an epidemic. Working with VOICE Today and seeing the passion with which everyone at VOICE works to fight this epidemic has truly inspired me. I have had a wonderful experience and learned so much. Everyone has been so helpful and wonderful, and I will be sad to go." - Julie

Iris Lloyd came to Voice Today in April of 2011 not having any idea of how a random meeting would affect her or Voice Today. A survivor herself, Iris seeks to assist organizations on an administrative level to better structure their existing programs and minimize the obstacles that can arise while forming the organization itself.  "The work, on any level, is very exciting." Iris said.  "However, working with a group whose mission is breaking the silence that I lived in for 40 years has been one of the most worthwhile efforts I have had the honor of being associated with."

Iris is also the Coordinator at Maximum Impact Love, Inc., who has asked that Voice Today become a partner in Metro Atlanta and other cities in the future at their large one-day events.  Guests of the events are given physical, spiritual, and emotional resources while receiving an open expression of God's Love through food, clothing, and other free giveaways.

Art R. Malloy is the newest member on VOICE Today's Board of Directors. Art was named dean of student success at SCAD Atlanta in January of 2007. Services, Counseling and Student Support Services, Career and Alumni Success, Athletics, Student Success and Advising, and Fitness/Recreation and Intramural Sports.

Operation Save Innocence Worldwide: Project Bulgaria Child

Our 7-city tour through Bulgaria was a huge success. From Sorrows to Sapphires is now translated into Bulgarian! Angela, her son Jacob, and the team from Cornett Ministries (based in Bulgaria) hosted workshops and spoke at churches across the country. Many broke their silence.
