Greetings!

RoxanneThis is just a quick note to let you know some of the new things that are on the Alpha Zeta State web site that you might need or want to pass on to your sisters.

The Alpha Zeta State newsletter will be coming out soon.  Our new editors, Claire Swanson and Loretta Katchmir-Wills are doing the edit and layout right now.  There are about 200 sisters who have been listed by their chapters as needing to receive a printed version of the newsletter.  All of the rest of us will be notified when the pdf version is linked to the website so that we can go and read it on line or print it out to read later.

All of the information about newsletter deadlines, submission requirements, etc. is on the newsletter web page.  That is also where the newsletter link will be posted when it is ready.

Meanwhile, what follows is the news between the news!

Sincerely,

Jan Paxton
Alpha Zeta State Webmaster

New from the society
Greek logoDelta Kappa Gamma Society International does not want to be referred to as "international"; the preferred term is "the society".  I'll try to remember that!

The society has become prolific in its helpful publications.  We now have "As The SAP Rises", tips for strategic action planning.   Dowload it here or  Read more...  We have the society's membership committee publishing monthly tips, this month it is on mentoring new teachers -  Read More... There is a new orientation guide with a slide show available, also from the international membership committee.  Read more...

Of course, we still have the communications committee's suggestions to help us out in the monthly "Broadcasting the Buzz"  Read more...

Keep watching the Alpha Zeta State website and I will try to post all of the latest when it arrives.

What's new For Alpha Zeta State Convention?
bannersYou'll have to wait until the January newsletter to hear about the fantastic workshops that Barbara Smith and her committee are planning, but there will be two brand new things happening this year.

There will be chapter sales!  This is something that has been considered for many years, but this year it will have its trial run.  Each chapter's president and convention chair have the full information.  There is a key deadline coming up, however.  Any chapter that wants to participate and sell something must have that request in to Sigma Chapter (which is coordinating the sale) before November 15, so that they can get the information to Roxanne Adinolfi for final approval.

The second exciting change will be the elimination of the book vendor.  How can that be exciting?  Well, Zeta has agreed to coordinate a "going green" book exchange it its place!  Watch for the details.

CTAUN & Schools for Africa
CTAUNANNUAL CTAUN CONFERENCE AT THE UNITED NATIONS:

Education IS a Human Right - Friday, February 3, 2012.

Here, and on the AZState website, is a flyer so that you can apply for a professional development day.

For updates and speaker announcements, along with registration information, keep checking the CTAUN website (teachun.org). Also on the website will be information regarding special hotel rates for conference attendees at a hotel in the conference area.

Margaret Anzul and Linda Dix, our liaisons to CTAUN and Schools for Africa, have provided us with the latest information, newsletters and newsettes.  Check the CTAUN and Schools for Africa links on our website.

What is on the website?
MarieThe Alpha Zeta State website (deltakappagamma.org/NJ/) has been completely re-designed.  The officers and state committee chairs got the notice of the re-design during the summer.  If you haven't been there yet, please go check it out.  There is a new drop-down menu that should make it possible for you to find everything you want and need without searching.  If you notice something missing, incorrect or  just messed up, please let Jan Paxton, state webmaster, know and she will fix the problem.

The latest additions have been the slide shows from Hershey.  The Northeast Regional Conference was well attended, especially by New Jersey.  A small slide show of official (copyrighted) pictures from Photos By Jim is on the home page of the website.  Michele Contala took about 3 million pictures and the slide show of her photos is on the Gallery web page.

We're working on better communication.  If you know someone who didn't get this, forward it to her and have her sign herself up.  I only have the e-mails that the society sent us, and that's hardly everyone!  I'm sure there are some e-mails that are going to bounce because they've been changed since the society got them.  Please send me corrections and additions and we'll get this new adventure working smoothly.  Thanks for your patience!

Your sister,
Jan
