It's Carnival Time in Southeastern Louisiana! This is a special time of year and the perfect time to let the good times roll. Although we've had a fairly warm winter, most locals are anxious to get out and about to enjoy the lovely weather. Are you ready too? We have an outstanding line-up of events, festivals, and excuses to get out of the house and hit the town.
Burgeoning springtime brings exhilaration each year for the Parish. This year is no exception. The Tangi Tourism team has been working diligently on a number of projects that we know you'll be excited about. Keep your eyes open for a few surprises coming in the near future... As always, Tangi Tourism keeps you up to date on the current happenings through our calendar of events. If you are hosting an event please contact us so we can help spread the word.
Sincerely, Betty C. Stewart Executive Director

What's been happening?

The CBS funded "Scent of the Missing" television pilot recently wrapped filming in Hammond and Independence. Our very own Airport Director, Jason Ball, was cast as one of the search and rescue personnel. Jason is shown in the photo with his friend, Blake Sanders, and dogs Smokey and Piper.
Tangipahoa Parish served as home to the production offices. All actors, crew, and executives were housed in local accommodations. "These are the types of projects we love to host" said Executive Director, Betty Stewart. "Location scouts and support crew stayed in town weeks prior to and after filming wrapped. When the crew is based in our Parish the economic impact is much greater than a day or two of filming." Watch your television listings this fall for exact show dates and times. Below is a sample of the media coverage which has already taken place for the TV pilot. Once the time is near for the nation-wide airing, additional coverage is expected.

More filming in Hammond!
If you happened to be driving around downtown Hammond on Monday you might have noticed a few street closures. We were excited to host part of the "Dog Fight" filming. A wonderful partnership between Mayor Foster, Chief Devall, Fire Chief Thomas, LADOTD, and Tangi Tourism allowed us to be a part of this potential blockbuster motion picture. We work diligently to build a reputation as a film friendly destination and foresee more movie action in the future.

Spotlight on...
Holiday Inn Northshore
The new kid on the block, the Holiday Inn Northshore, has quickly grown into one of Hammond's most popular hotels. The Holiday Inn opened in the summer of 2010 to rave reviews and compliments galore. Since then, the staff has continued to build a reputation as one of the leading business hotels in the region.
3,000 ft. of meeting space allows groups to utilize high tech equipment while still experiencing an intimate environment. Kem's restaurant and bar are natural hosts for gatherings, socials, receptions, parties, and more.
