Happy New Year! 2011 is barely behind us, yet 2012 has already started with a bang. The beginning of each year brings a resurgence of energy and excitement. Here at Tangi Tourism, we're preparing for a fast-paced kick-off for the New Year.
Although Old Man Winter has decided to take up temporary residence in Tangipahoa, remember that Spring Festival Season is just around the corner. Before you know it we'll be out and about every weekend celebrating our heritage, agriculture, or simply hosting a party. In the meantime, there are lots of indoor activities to keep your heart racing. Check out the newly updated calendar of events to keep your datebook current.

What's been happening?
Tangi Tourism Executive Director, Betty Stewart, was honored as Ponchatoula's 2011 Citizen of the Year. During the ceremony last January Betty's family, friends, and employees celebrated along side her during the surprise announcement. Betty's grandchildren were happy to assist her during the recent Christmas parade. Congratulations again!

Tangi Tourism is an avid supporter of the Florida Parishes Arena. Since it opened in 2004, the arena has hosted approximately 75 events per year. Craft shows, health fairs, small meetings, corporate events, weddings, professional wrestling, monster truck shows, and of course livestock related events are mainstays for the facility. Two hotels have opened since the arena began operations. We are a proud partner as we recognize the magnitude of the impact the Florida Parishes Arena has had on the Amite area and all of Tangipahoa Parish.
