Tangipahoa Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau!

Wow!  What a busy summer we've had.  Baseball tournaments, conferences and meetings, Hot August Night, quilt trail events, campground activities galore, rugby tournaments and more.  Now we're gearing up for football and fall festival season. Groups we are currently working with for 2011 include: LA Homebuilders Assn, LA Amateur Softball Assn, LA Supreme Court, University of New Orleans, SLU homecoming and reunions, LA Missionary Baptist Churches, LA Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, and numerous others.

There is never a dull moment in Tangipahoa Parish!  The weather is finally cooling off so we invite you to visit a local attraction, take a tour downtown, or visit with friends and family at any of the upcoming festivals. We hope to see you out and about!

Sincerely,

Betty C. Stewart

Rugby

Tangi Tourism Chairman, Buddy Pugh, and Vice Chair, Reggie Martin, present a sponsorship check to the Hot August 7's Rugby organizers

Recently, the Hot August 7's Rugby Tournament was held at the Fagan Drive fields in Hammond.  A hugely successful event already, the organizers expect it to continue growing and prospering.  Special thanks to Dr. Sam Hyde Jr., Jason Mapp, and Stephen Parrill for bringing back what was once the largest Rugby tournament in the United States.  Tangi Tourism proudly supports your efforts!

Tangi Tourism is excited to be the newest member of the Louisiana Northshore Quilt Trail!  21 quilt squares are now on display or in production. Individuals or businesses interested in participating in the trail may contact Donna Mollere at dmollere@charter.net, Rosemary Ydarrago at rydarrag@bellsouth.net or Kim Zabbia at kimzabbia@huntbrothers.com.  A list of available artisans is also available by calling: 985-386-8815 or 985-229-5941.

The Louisiana Northshore Quilt Trail was created by Ponchatoula First Lady and Artist, Kim Zabbia, to encourage tourism in the parishes of Tangipahoa, St. Tammany, Livingston, Washington, and St. Helena.  Community and corporate participation is expected and will aid in the further connection of the Northshore region.  Goals of the trail are: to strengthen community spirit and pride, to foster education and an appreciation of the quilting arts, to develop cooperative relationships among artisans including quiltmakers, artists, and contractors, and to procure private and public funding for marketing and administrative costs.
