It's a Cowboy Christmas at the Diamond W Chuckwagon in Cowtown.  Kathleen and the guys have decorated the Empire House Theater with trees and lights and greens galore.  Holiday shows have already begun, and it's a great way to get in the mood of the season.  Come see us!

If you have family in Wichita for Thanksgiving weekend, you'll  be ready to get out for a heap of fun at the Chuckwagon on Friday night. We regularly entertain three generations of a family in a night, and they all have a ball.  And that Saturday  -- the Diamond W Wranglers are performing a very special benefit concert at the Orpheum Theater.  "Christmas Express" will feature highlights of our Christmas show accompanied by a chamber orchestra  especially gathered for this event.  100 % of the proceeds from this concert will go to benefit Shriners Children's Hospitals.  Thanks to Jeff Breault, Joe Sauer and their team for organizing this great event.

Blessings to you and your family this holiday season.

Happy Trails,

Kansas Mag articleWhy do YOU love the Diamond W?

When Kansas! Magazine put the Diamond W Wranglers at the top of  "20 Reasons We Love Kansas", we asked why YOU love them?  We'll be featuring your answers over the next few issues:

FROM JIM RUSSELL,

AUGUSTA, KS

" I could go on and on about the wonderful cowboy music with all those old songs of the west and the new ones written by the Wranglers, the great harmony
in those songs, performed so well by the Wranglers, or just the sound of the instruments (I especially like the acoustic guitars). The entertaining way the songs are presented, intermingled with terrific humor. I could, and have bragged to others about the delicious meals presented by the Chuckwagon supper, the friendly atmosphere in which they are served, and the quantity of the portions that insure everyone has all they can eat. I think these are all good reasons to love the Diamond W Wranglers, but then everyone who has ever attended one of the concerts already knows all of this.

"What keeps me loving them is the fact that they always let you know they are there for you. They are home town boys who will take the time to talk to you about anything. They are loyal to their heritage, their home and their music. I love the fact that I can start a conversation with any one them and about any subect, and they will take the time to talk to me. Always friendly. I guess you could sum it all up by saying they not only play and sang professionally, and serve great food, they are just darn good people who have risen professionally, but as people, never got above their raising. Love you guys."

Thanks, Jim, and thanks to everyone who took the time to write.  We appreciate you!

Memories from "Home on the Range"   Wichita

Thanks to all the performers in the Western Music Association Kansas Chapter, and many special guests for making our part of the Kansas 150 Festival on October 8th a great show, and an incredibly memorable day.

Home on the Range finale

More than 120 people were in "Kansas:  Home on the Range". It included a 27- piece symphony conducted by Dr. Richard Koshgarian, the African-American choir "Arise", and the Dance Team from the Wichita Asian American Association, in addition to many of our members of the Western Music Association. Officials estimate that approximately 2,000 people were in attendance at Century II's Convention Hall.

This performance was not recorded, but if you would like a DVD of performance highlights from the March 13th performance in Hutchinson (including the videos that were shown), you can order for $24, including postage and sales tax.
