BUFFALO COMMONS STORYTELLING FESTIVAL
June 10-11
McCook, Nebraska
Greetings!

June promises to be a great mix of fun with the Diamond W Wranglers.  The summer season is in full swing at the Empire House Theater, Old Cowtown Museum, Wichita, and on June 10-11th they'll be performing in McCook, Nebraska at the Buffalo Commons Storytelling Festival. This is the 15th year for this extraordinary festival. Hope you can make it.

The Wranglers will also be entertaining and welcoming folks from around the country who are coming in for the Kansas Wheat Commission's National Festival of Breads. The concert is private, but the competition on June 25th is open to the public and will be a lot of fun.  www.nationalfestivalofbreads.com

Old owtown

The Diamond W Wranglers are proud to have their Chuckwagon Supper at the Old Cowtown Museum in Wichita, and they promote it wherever they go in the world.

Cowtown is an authentic town portraying life in the 1870's. 26 buildings are dotted around a several block area. They include the 1868 Munger House, a Victorian Gothic home that is the oldest surviving structure in Wichita, a number of shops and businesses, a train depot, saloon, church, jail, even an operational grain elevator.

A number of historical re-enactors will be on hand to greet you every day Cowtown is open.  You might be able to chat with the town marshal, a dressmaker, printer, drover, or blacksmith.  There are gunfights twice a day, and usually a horse-drawn covered wagon can give you a ride.

Cowtown's hours are 9:30 - 4:30 on show days, so they close one hour before our doors open.  Admission is $7.75 for adults, $5.50 for young children.  For other rates, including groups, go to their website at www.oldcowtown.org.

Thanks for supporting the Western Heritage of Kansas by coming to both Old Cowtown Museum and the Diamond W Chuckwagon Supper.

In the studio . . . Rex Allen Jr.

Rex Allen, Jr.  flew in

from Las Vegas in late

April to work on a new

CD at Tennessee Jim's recording studio in

Towanda. The Diamond W Wranglers are officially backing Rex on the CD,

and it's shaping up nicely.  We'll let you know when

it's out!

Diamond W went viral and didn't even know it!

A few months ago a fan wrote and said... "Hey, do you know that one of the Wranglers' songs has been put to video and is being emailed all over the country?"  Why no, we didn't!  So when we checked in at YouTube, we were delighted to see that "Don't Ever Sell Your Saddle" had thousands of hits, and people were speculating who the singer might be...

"I shure would like to know who's singing."

"This isn't Randy Travis, or Clay Cooper, who both recorded this.

It's driving me crazy -- who is this?

A way better version than any of the others."

"I can't hear it real well on these lousy laptop speakers, but it sort of sounds like Ranger Doug from Riders In The Sky."

"Nope. Definately NOT Ranger Doug."

"I believe it is Rex Allen Jr"

"At this point in time, your guess is as good as anyones. :)"

"No disrespect, but I really do not think this sounds like Randy Travis

at all. To my ears it sounds like Red Steagall or a cowboy poet

from the Tx Panhandle named Ed Montana."

And so it went for months, until the conversation caught the attention of Jessica Stuart, youngest daughter of Diamond W lead singer Stu Stuart.  She announced,

"I am 100% sure, there's no way to mistake my own dad's voice.

I've been listening to it for 32 years!!"

She's right, of course.  Stu Stuart has an unmistakeable sound, and this performance is one of his finest. Enjoy this very Special Delivery from the Diamond W!
