The Diamond W was honored to be part of the "Kansas: Home on the Range" show on March 13th, hosted by the Western Music Assocation - Kansas Chapter.
More than 60 performers graced the stage of the Fox Theatre in Hutchinson for an all out celebration of 150 years of Kansas history.
Folks said it made them proud to be a Kansan.
Made us proud, too.

Diamond W premieres with symphony
On February 5th, 2011 a dream came true for the Diamond W Wranglers. Seven of their original songs, along with Western Classics, were scored for symphony and performed for a very appreciative crowd in Hutchinson, Kansas. The Hutchinson Symphony, directed by Dr. Richard Koshgarian, was their creative partner.
"In recent years we have always written our music with a symphony in mind," says Jim Farrell. Jim worked closely with Peter Abood of Wichita to develop a "movie soundtrack" feel to the arrangements. The results -- particularly on Stu Stuart's "Great Spirit" and Jim's "Sonora Home" and "Trail Dust" -- were breathtaking. Many symphony fans in the audience were discovering Western Music for the first time, and Western Music fans were likewise appreciating the beauty of a symphonic performance.
Now that the investment has been made in the scores, the Wranglers are eager to take the show on the road and work with symphonies around the country. They'd like to thank Executive Director Mary Hemmings and Technical Director Josh Davies of Hutchinson's Historic Fox Theatre for making it all happen.

"Old Friends" is our latest CD...
...and it has some tunes folks have been clamoring for! Ladies, this one's for you: "Annie's Song", featuring Chip Worthington's beautiful tenor, is a highlight of the album, along with three other John Denver greats. The CD title refers to songs written by both old friends and legendary songwriters... and it also refers to newly-arranged and recorded songs that have been staples in the Wranglers' repertoire for a long time, but unavailable to buy until now. Click on the CD cover to buy the whole album, or go to Amazon.com, Itunes, or CD Baby to buy it by the slice. Enjoy! |

June 24 - 26 are OPEN dates for the Wranglers!
It's very rare for the Wranglers to have a free summer weekend, but Old Cowtown Museum had the opportunity to rent the entire complex for that weekend, and politely asked the guys to vamoose! Do you have a festival, concert, or private event that could use some fine music and great humor sometime during that weekend? Give us a call at 866-830-8283. |

A word about "Special Delivery"...
This week we received an order for 3 CDs from a gentleman who lives in Alabama. When we asked him whether he had seen the Wranglers perform live, he replied that he been following the Wranglers since their early days as the Prairie Rose Wranglers.
"I have loved their music ever since," he said.
"There is no other group like them."
That's what we mean by Special Delivery. The harmonies, the humor, and the hospitality of this group can touch your soul.
We hope it will. Thanks for spending this time with us.
Sincerely,
The Diamond W Family |
