Off-Key Swan Song?
By David Collin, Busy Bees Embroidery
It's incredible to realize a year has gone by. I've had a wonderful time as Chairman of the Board of the Kirkwood-Des Peres Area Chamber. With staff like Lori Givan, Gina March, Iris Colyer and Beth Wideman; directed by our President Jim Wright and a great board, how could it not be? I don't mean to say there were no disagreements, but there was no blood-letting; never an adversarial moment. Jim and Staff, thank you so much for a great year.
There were several things we talked about accomplishing this past year, and some are now a reality. I think my favorite is seeing the Chamber taking a more active role in relationships with local government. You can expect more of that in the future.
I had hoped we would be on our way to our own building with enough space to rent to other businesses, which would pay for physical plant needs, so the money we spend on rent now could go to Chamber member benefits. At least the topic is on the table.
