| · A ceremony to induct Melbourne (Mel) E. Bay (1913 - 1997) as a 2011 St. Louis Walk of Fame honoree has been scheduled for Thursday, June 30, 2011. Festive live music starts at 11:00 a.m and ceremony begins at 11:30 a.m. The ceremony will include the unveiling of a bronze star and biographical plaque located in front of 6178 Delmar, St. Louis, MO, across the street from the Moonrise Hotel.
· Fund Raiser Trivia Night for Mike Bales will be held in the Kirkwood Community Center Gym, July 30th, doors open at 6 pm with the trivia beginning at 7 pm. Tickets are $30 or $300 per table with $400 Captains Tables. Captains tables come with waiter service, snacks, special seating and an extra good feeling of helping. They are asking for volunteers, silent auction items, and straight donations. You can also buy a phantom ticket and not attend if your schedule is busy. Mike Bales has been there for us over the years in so many ways. He has protected our schools, our kids, risen to help our community, provided good advice and has been just plain helpful to those who come in contact with him. I ask that you rise to help Mike now by supporting this event. Mike recently undertook brain surgery and is in a wheelchair fighting to regain basic functions. Let's show up for Mike like he has for us so many times. Ashley Conley has graciously agreed to lead this event and can be reached at 314-401-8332, or you may contact Scott Mosby at his office in Kirkwood at 314-909-1800, Mosby Building Arts.
· Riggs Construction & Design, a Kirkwood design-build remodeling firm established in 1959, has been acquired by the brother and sister duo of Bill Riggs and Amie Riggs Swarts. Outgoing President Tom Riggs, father of Bill and Amie, is retiring after 41 years of service to the company, after building Riggs Construction into one of the most respected remodelers in the country. Amie started with Riggs Construction in 1996 as an office assistant, and Bill started as a laborer in 1997. Today Amie serves as the vice president of sales and marketing and Bill is the vice president of administration and production. Bill and Amie officially became co-owners of Riggs Construction and Design as of June 1, 2011. "Bill and Amie have played a monumental role in the growth of the company over the past 15 years and have proven they are ready to take the reins," said Tom Riggs, outgoing president of Riggs Construction. "My father dreamed of Riggs becoming the best company, with the best people. Bill and Amie will keep that vision alive." Riggs Construction, founded by Bill and Helen Riggs in 1959, has a longstanding history in the St. Louis area. After 20 years of remodeling and building custom and subdivision homes, Bill and Helen's children, Tom and Pamela Riggs, took control from their parents, with Tom later buying the business. |
