Backing Up Computer Files at MCC

For those of you who have not started using Home (H:) to back up your files, please read these instructions. If you have already moved your files over to Home (H:) by yourself, please be aware that you still need to contact the MCC Help Desk at x3456 to activate the backup process.

The Student Affairs Division is requesting nominations of students to be honored at the college's award ceremony in May. Please take the time to survey your classes, clubs, committees and the campus in general for students who you feel are deserving of consideration. Nominations are due April 20. Please contact T.J. Barber, x3282 with any questions.

College Students and Technology  

The Pew Internet & American Life Project is a great resource for those who want to understand more about today's technology users, especially our students. A recent report discusses how college students lead the way in tech and gadget use (no surprise!). But community college students do not use digital tools as much as four-year college students and graduate students.

Adult Success Coach

The Adult Success Coach website provides one-to-one coaching and an extensive library of resources to help adult students succeed in college, balance life/school/work, and set goals for the future. Students who complete two appointments with a success coach will automatically be entered to win a giftcard to the bookstore! For further information, contact Veronica Young, x2720.

Poet Stephen Campiglio to Read at MCC During National Library Week

Continuing Education's Stephen Campiglio has assembled a collection of his poems in chapbook form, entitled Cross-Fluence. "The collection is sort of a living body of work that has continued to change and evolve as I've encountered various forms over the years," Campiglio said. Stephen will be on-hand to read selected poems and sign copies of the book. 

Dodgeball Tournament

Join the fun and raise money for the Habitat for Humanity trip to New Orleans. Staff and faculty are welcome. Entry fee is $3 per student / $10 per faculty member, eight players per team. Pick up rosters in the Office of Student Activities. Completed rosters and fees should be turned into the Office of Student Activities by April 10.

23rd Annual MCC Regional Job Fair

April 14, 2012, 9:00 AM-1:00 PM, GPA Gymnasium

Approximately 50 companies are expected to attend the event and will be seeking candidates for professional, technical, sales, management and entry-level opportunities. It is anticipated that over 2,000 people will attend. Job seekers will be able to have their resumes critiqued by nationally-certified resume writers for free. The event flyer offers information and highlights participating companies. This poster can be downloaded, printed, distributed directly to students or posted in your department/office to assist in promoting the event to the college community. This workshop will involve the exchange of ideas and concepts between the facilitators and the participants in understanding the challenges and responsibilities of leading; some strategies for navigating the leadership maze; why and how to celebrate success as leaders.  

Introduction to Project Management (Presented by Catherine Seaver)

This workshop will introduce participants to the fundamentals of project management and provide examples of how project management is used to turn a seemingly complex job into a manageable project that can be completed on time and within a budget. Participants will have an opportunity to test their project management skills by identifying tasks and deliverables, developing a timeline with milestones, and reducing the threat of 'scope creep'.
