Strategic Plan

MCC's Strategic Plan Mid-Year Report for 2011-12 highlights many of the ways our community has been working to realize our strategic goals. It provides an overview of our strategic goals and objectives, with examples of the activities and tactics the college community has engaged in to support these strategic goals. It also includes several "Key Performance Indicators." 

 

Department action plans in support of the 2012-13 strategic plan should be in the works this month, with budget and division-level planning occurring in April.

 

Poet Stephen Campiglio To Read At MCC During National Library Week

April 11, 2012, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM, Fireside Commons Lounge

Stephen Campiglio has assembled a collection of his poems in chapbook form, entitled Cross-Fluence. "The collection is sort of a living body of work that has continued to change and evolve as I've encountered various forms over the years," Campiglio said. Stephen will be on hand to read selected poems and sign copies of the book. 

 

MCC Places Pair on All-Region XXI Team

Manchester Community College basketball players Elise Chase (Vernon) and Lyndsey Nash (Manchester) were named to National Junior College Athletic Association All-Region XXI Division III team following the 2011-12 season. Chase and Nash will play in the Region XXI All-Star game on March 27 at 5 PM at the CC of Rhode Island campus in Warwick, RI.

President-to-President Scholarship Nominations Requested

The Office of the Dean of Student Affairs is seeking nominations for the Central Connecticut State University President-to-President Scholarship and the University of Hartford President-to-President Scholarship. Recommendations should include name of person making the nomination, student's name, and an explanation of the basis for the recommendation and sent to Shelley Craig, MS# 9 or via email by April 5.  Unsure if a student is a potential graduate? Contact Shelley Craig at  x3203 or Gail Arroyo at x3234.

 

Regional Advisory Council Service Award Nominations

Healthcare Technology NOW! Luncheon

23rd Annual MCC Regional Job Fair

April 14, 2012, 9:00 AM-1:00 PM, GPA Gymnasium

Approximately 50 companies are expected to attend the event and will be seeking candidates for professional, technical, sales, management and entry-level opportunities. It is anticipated that over 2,000 people will attend. Job seekers will be able to have their resumes critiqued by nationally-certified resume writers for free. The event flyer offers information and highlights participating companies. This poster can be downloaded, printed, distributed directly to students or posted in your department/office to assist in promoting the event to the college community. Phi Theta Kappa

The MCC chapter of Phi Theta Kappa has opened its enrollment period for new members. Students who have completed at least 12 credits at MCC, have achieved at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, and are currently enrolled are eligible to join. This enrollment period will close on May 15. The spring induction ceremony for new members will be held on Saturday, April 21 at 2:00 PM in the SBM Charitable Foundation Auditorium.

In part one of this series, participants learned about the importance of building accessible learning management systems and Blackboard's commitment and approach to accessibility. Teachers and instructional designers have an equally important part to play to ensure that their online content and learning experiences are accessible to all students.  This session aims to increase awareness of the different accessibility challenges people face, and provide some universal design techniques that can be used when building content and teaching online with Blackboard. Tim Boto, ETDL's Academic Support Specialist, will facilitate the morning sessions in a group setting located in the ETDL Sandbox, LRC B130. Difficult! What is that? Who amongst us think that he/she is not a difficult person? Sometimes we wish that we had a magic wand and we will make all conflict and difficult people vanish in a poof! We all have the potential to be either difficult or extremely difficult people/leaders/managers/employees/co-workers/customers. Or we at one time or another are dealing with or have dealt with a difficult person. This interactive workshop is aimed at understanding difficult people & difficult behaviors and various strategies to deal with difficult people within our organizations. SPACE IS LIMITED! New this semester! Staff and faculty invited to intramurals for the low fee of $15/month unlimited access. All activities but flag football have drop-in participation. Here is the schedule:

  • Indoor Soccer - Tuesdays and Thursdays, through April 24, 2:15 PM-4:15 PM
  • Flag Football - Mondays and Wednesdays, April 9-May 5, 2:30 PM-4:30 PM

New Group X Class

20/20/20 - (20 minutes each of strength, cardio and core) - Wednesdays, 3:30 PM-4:40 PM $20/month for unlimited classes.
