Spotlights
ICE Radio Encourages MCC Community to Support our Troops!
Sweet Spot Winner
(l to r)  ICE Radio Intern Hannah Lynch; "Sweet Spot in C-Lot" student winner Rick Scagnelli; and ICE Radio Intern Adua Mangiafico standing in the Police Reserved parking spot.

For the third straight year, staff members of the student-run ICE Radio, MCC's internet-based radio station, partnered with the MCC Veteran's Club to help fill and ship a holiday care package to a former MCC student serving abroad in the military.

Over the course of just four days, students, faculty and staff stopped outside of Cougar Café and generously donated over $240, plus a large packing box full of toiletries, magazines, snacks, greeting cards and MCC mementos (such as a Live Wire newspaper and an ICE Radio cooler).

As an incentive to encourage more donations, ICE Radio worked with MCC Police to secure the temporary donation of their reserved parking spot in C-Lot for one student to randomly win for the months of December '11 and January '12.  Surgery Technology student Rick Scagnelli, of Manchester, was thrilled to have his ticket pulled during the live, on-air drawing, but instead "paid it forward" and donated the parking permit to a friend of his who he felt needed it more!
