Consejo Welcomes the New Executive Director

 

Consejo Counseling and Referral Service's Board of Directors is delighted to welcome Jaime Garcia, as the agency's new Executive Director beginning Monday, February 6, 2012.

"Jaime Garcia is exactly the right leader, at the right time for Consejo. He has excellent behavioral health and fundraising experience, strong community relationships and unbeatable enthusiasm," said Carolyn Bain, Consejo Board President.

 

Jaime Garcia has more than 20 years of experience in managing non-profit organizations and working with local government agencies throughout the Seattle-King County area. Jaime has worked for the City of Seattle and King County managing Community Development Block Grant Programs. In addition, as the Administrator of Columbia Health Center for the Seattle-King County Health Department, he assisted in establishing Washington State's first school-based health center at Rainier Beach High School. He served as the Vice-President for United Way of King County's Community Services for 12 years. At Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, he managed their Pacific Northwest Giving Program. Recently, Jaime was the Executive Director of the Health Work Force Institute, an affiliate of the Washington State Hospital Association. 

 

Jaime is a current board member of the Minority Executive Directors Coalition, where he serves as a Cultural Competency trainer and Co-Chair of the Public Policy Committee. He is also a Lecturer for the School of Social Work at the University of Washington. Jaime holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Mexico and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Washington.
