Meditation Exercise
We live in a busy world, rushing to get things done. We live in a instant gratification society where family, bosses and friends need things done at that very moment. We constantly give to others without realizing we need time for ourselves.
Mediation does three specific things, It calms you, makes you focus, and creates harmony within yourself. So lets take a moment out of our hectic schedule and do a meditation exercise.
Find a place in your home or outside that you will have little disturbance. Ok, first create space. Visualize a white light around you and see it expand all around you. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Take one deep breathe and exhale slowly, feeling the days tensions slip away. Now with every normal breathe and exhale feel the tension get lower and lower.
Imagine yourself on a beach. Use your sense of hearing touch and smell as you feel the sand between your toes. Hear the ocean as the waves slowly roll up to the shore. Smell the ocean air crisp and mild with a hint of salt.
Listen to your heart beating slower and slower. Allow yourself to empty your mind of life's daily routine. With every breathe you take you create your own harmonious world. You feel a light breeze on your face as it reinvigorates you. Hear the ocean and the seagulls hovering above. Feel each grain of sand beneath you as you become one with mother nature. Breathe in and out as you sit in the paradise you have created for you and you alone.
Listen to your breath as it falls into rythmn with the sound of the waves flowing on to the shore and then back out to the sea. Feel your blood flow with tranquility through your veins. You are at peace and completely relaxed. Take a moment and look around and allow your eyes to see as far as they can out in the ocean. See color of deep blue and the white on top of the wave as it gently washes ashore. See the rock cliff and its fine detail of each crevice, as it protrudes into the ocean. Feel the wind of calming flowing over your body. Commune with mother nature and let her wash and cleanse you, basking in her glow.
Take a few more moments and revel in the peacefulness. Now its time for the journey back home. Concentrate on your breathing as each breath gets lighter and lighter. Feel your heart speed up just a little, as you begin to slowly open your eyes. Take a deep breath and exhale. You are now back in your space, eyes open.
