MY BODY CAN HEAL ITSELF?

Some of you have heard me say this before..."The body is amazing!  It has the ability to heal itself."  This month we're going to learn how the body has this ability.

Ever wonder why we don't have to think about breathing, or making our heart beat?  The reason is because the brain automatically sends information down the spinal cord, out through the nerves and to the heart and lungs, telling them exactly what to do and when to do it.  Our nervous system (brain, spinal cord and all the nerves that come off the spinal cord) controls everything!  Now let's think about some ways the body heals itself.  Think about when you cut or scrape yourself.  How does the body know to stop the bleeding?  The nervous system registers the injury and the brain sends a message down the spine to the middle of your back (about the level of T8) and then out the nerves to the liver...yup the liver first.  What does the liver have to do with healing you ask?  The liver makes thrombin, a key enzyme in the clotting process.  The only time thrombin is made, is when there is an open wound.  The thrombin travels in the bloodstream, along with plasma and platelets (sticky substance that helps make a clot), to the site of injury.  Once it reaches the injury site it joins with fibrinogen and creates a needlework screen that catches the platelets and creates a patch, thus closing the wound.  Voila a scab is formed!  Of course the process is way more complicated, but you get the gist.

Let's  say you have some kind of interference (ie. a subluxation) that won't let the information travel from brain to the liver to tell it to make the thrombin...you got it...no clot, it won't work.  See the importance of making sure your spine is interference or subluxation free?  It proves that Chiropractic is way more important than just getting rid of pain....it's so much more complex!

Want to know more about SUBLUXATION?  Ask us...we want you to be informed!!!
