No, we haven't been sleeping. Far from it. Just so busy that the beginning of August snuck up on us, but hey, here's your newsletter. Enjoy!

FREE Workouts on Tuesdays 
Don't Miss the Last Two Park Workouts 

It's beautiful weather TODAY, Tuesday, August 9: mostly sunny, not too hot (about 75 degrees). Peeeeeeeeerrrfect conditions for the first of the final two outdoor workouts. Be there for the last of the FREE Sculpture Park (almost) workouts. Grab a friend, your water bottle, and give yourself an early evening pick-me-up that will recharge your energy bank so you can do some late summer gardening when you get home (or insert activity of choice here J). It's only 30 minutes. See you there!

TIME: 5:30-6 p.m.
LOCATION: South of the Pappajohn Education Center, facing Locust St. & 13th
 
The workout is for everyone, not just GPS clients. No need to call or register, just show up ready to exercise, and bring along your friends, neighbors, co-workers, anyone you'd like.
August Observances
Back to School
While it may not be a national holiday (especially if you are a kid!), August is typically the month most children go back Kids in schoolto school. Transitioning your kids from summer fun to the school day is tough, so here are a few tips for making that transition a little easier on everyone. It's particularly important to re-establish a bedtime and meal routine. And don't forget the importance of making sure your children get the proper nutrition. Use these tips for sending your kids to school with nutritious lunches.

This Tip Bears Repeating: Drink Water
The March Trainer's Tip was all about the importance of staying hydrated; that is, drink your water!! Even in the recent hot, hot summer weeks we've seen a number of you coming to the studio without your water!! So we know this tip bears repeating: drinking enough water throughout the day and during your workouts is cruicial to overall health and well-being. Recognize the signs of dehydration and make sure you are drinking at least 80 ounces of water each day, which does not include the water you drink during your workout. And always bring your water bottle!

Great Summer Fare
Warm weather is still here and we're sure you still have your barbeque fired up at least once a week. If you want a break from the grill, but still love that flavor, try this easy BBQ Chicken Sandwich. For those of you looking for something completely different, try this recipe for Basil, Shrimp & Zucchini Pasta that's loaded with healthy carbs and packed with protein. Brought to you from our resident Food Dude, Tommy Boone.
