Greetings!

Whew! We've been so busy lately we didn't get this issue of the eNavigator out on time. But, here it is. Belatedly, we'd like to wish all the moms, grandmothers, mothers-in-law and stepmothers a joyous and Happy Mother's Day. You do so much for your families, please make sure you do as much for yourselves. So this week, put yourself first and let the rest of the family pamper you. :)

CURL in the Summer
Keep Your Kids Active
Many of you may have heard about the GPS CURL program already. It's designed for children in grades 3 through 5 and 6 through 8 who just are not into organized sports. You know your kids need to be physically active at least 60 minutes every day (and so should you), but oftentimes if your child isn't into soccer or softball or another sport, they are not getting the activity they need, especially in the summer when there is no PE class for them to attend.

If this describes your child, then register for the next GPS CURL program that starts Monday, June 13. And, for the summer only, we are offering CURL at a 15 percent discount!! That's eight weeks of FUN-PACKED, age-appropriate activity, plus easy-to-remember nutritional info, three times a week, for $206. You have to admit you can't beat that and we guarantee your kids will enjoy themselves!!
May Observances (In Addition to Mother's Day)
National Physical Education and Sports Month
Well, you know we're going to love this one. With the nice weather, you have lots of options for physical activity, with your family, or alone. Just make sure you get up and MOVE IT! There is a lot of great information provided by the government. We especially like the Fit Tips at the bottom of the page.

National Bike Month and Bike to Work Week
Let's face it. Des Moines is becoming more of a bike-friendly city. Haven't been on a bicycle in years? Don't fret. If you work downtown, you can try your hand at wheelies by renting a bike. If you already ride your bike regularly (i.e., there's air in the tires and no cobwebs in the spokes), make sure you take part in some of the many National Bike Month and local Bike to Work Week (May 16-20) festivities planned in and around the metro. Join in the fun!!

Women's Health Week
How appropriate that Women's Health Week is the week of Mother's Day, May 8-14. There are a lot of little and big things women can do to take care of themselves. Monthly self-breast exams, yearly check-ups, get enough rest, and our fave ... be sure to get enough daily exercise. We'll help ya ... it's going to be great! STOTT PILATES, Zumba®, TRX®, interval training, just take your pick and come see how easy it is to incorporate activity into your daily life. Take the pledge that this is going to be your best year yet! And along that same line of thinking ...

National Osteoporosis Awareness Prevention Month
... if you are 50 or older, it's time to get a bone scan. And it's not just women. Men should be tested, as well. There's a lot more you can do for yourself besides drinking milk and getting enough vitamin D. Learn all about osteoporosis and take care.
Trainer's Tip
Balance Is the Key
No matter what age you are, you need to have good balance. As we age, let's just say balance is something that's a little harder to maintain (I've been known to tip over occasionally). But is there anything specific you can do to improve or maintain your balance? Of course! Check out these easy to practice balance exercises from the Mayo Clinic.

Woo Hoo ... Get Out the Grill
Get the chef's hat ready, pull the apron out of the drawer and let's get to grilling. Memorial Day weekend is the official start of the grilling season and Tommy "The Food Dude" Boone has discovered a super grilling recipe for you to try. These Steak & Potato Kebabs With Creamy Cilantro Sauce are sure to please the meat eaters in your family!

We can't emphasize enough how much YOU -- our clients --mean to us. You aren't just clients, you are our family. Corny, maybe, but we really believe it. We are dedicated to making sure you and your families are able to lead the happiest and healthiest lives possible. If you missed the e-mail invitation sent yesterday, here's another: please join Rodney and me at our AdvoCare® Open House Monday, May 9, at 7 p.m. There's truly no pressure to buy. We just want you to learn more about the products and supplements we believe are a cut above all the rest. We hope to see you there!

Sincerely,

Gigi, Rodney & the Training Team
