Spring is coming!! Flowers, birds, the whole works. But we're most excited, because we know we get to say "Welcome back, snowbirds. We've missed you!" You're just in time to see what's new at GPS, because there is plenty! Stop by the studio and get reacquainted with your favorite trainer and your favorite equipment (they both missed you).

 

And need we mention that swimsuit season is right around the corner again? We all love the warm weather and summer sunshine, but many of us are a little self-conscious about showing some skin. There's still enough time to whip your body into shape (and if you're in good shape already, more power to you)! Not sure what you need? Talk to one of our highly-trained instructors to get you started on the right path.

View the TRX Ballet!! 
You know (and we do too) that we have a talented group of trainers and instructors at GPS. Well, they're taking it to the next level ...
  
Some of our artistic trainers recently created what we hope is the first of many dances using our TRX equipment. Beautifully choreographed by Lisa Lewis, the first-ever GPS TRX ballet is performed by Lisa, Rod "the Bod" Filer, Katie Crouch, Kate Shafer and Tommy Boone. They worked hard and put in a lot of extra hours to entertain us, so please check out the TRX ballet video on the new GPS YouTube channel. If you like what you see, please send the link to your friends and encourage them to keep sending it. We want to see how many hits we can get!

April Observances
Stress Awareness Month
Stress can be a killer ... literally. And everyone, no matter how young or old, seems to be coping with more stress every day.
  
One of the best ways to manage and relieve stress is to add exercise to your daily routine. And with the great weather coming, don't stress about not having enough time to exercise! Take a walk in the sunshine at lunch; go for a bike ride or walk the dog a little longer. Get outside and enjoy Des Moines' beautiful sites and nature!
  
If you need something a little more vigorous, get thee to GPS. Enough said, right? ...
  
National Humor Month
... ahhh, not quite. Another way to relieve stress is humor. How appropriate is it that April just happens to be National Humor Month? Make sure you have a good belly laugh every day to help lighten your mood, and not just in April!

Trainer's Tip
Stretch It to the Limit
Okay, we might have paraphrased the famous Eagles song, but you get the idea. With the warmer weather many of you will be inclined to be a little more active, and that's great! But don't forget the importance of stretching before and after you exercise. Even if you take a short walk at lunch time, stretching is a good idea. The most important benefit is flexibility, but there are lots of good reasons to stretch.
