February 2012
Greetings, pen pushers!

Or maybe that's me. Ah well!  We've just about recovered from the festive season, and are getting going for the New Year.  I don't know about you, but I'm defying age and have found myself remarkably well oriented in time - I haven't mistaken the year once yet.

This is the time of year when we think about extending our ranges, and there'll be some news of that below.  But, unusually, I'll be focussing on the pens we have in the shop, rather than on the web, today.

The other thing is a date for your diary.  We will be holding our next pen evening on Friday 16th March, from about 6.30.  Hope to see you there!

Fibretips forever!

Just a few years ago, fibre tip pens were widely available and Loom Silververy popular. They're nice to write with! Recently, however, many manufacturers have simply stopped manufacturing the pens and, annoyingly for those who still own them, the refills.  You can still get any number of disposable fibre tip pens, what if you prefer something a little more stylish and refillable, you're looking at either a Montblanc at megabucks, Onoto (also £££) or a Faber Castell at over £100.

But Faber Castell still do the refills, and they fit their rollerball pens.  We've illustrated the Loom - still over £20, but a good deal less than the others and a very acceptable pen..

The bad news is that I haven't managed to get Faber Castell on the website as yet,and won't for a few weeks.  Call in or phone if we can help!

New Pens

Talking of the website, there is an awesome amount of work to do on it.  As well as broadening our range of Faber Castell products, we've picked up another couple of brands you may have heard of - Parker and Waterman.  This means that not only can we sell you their pens, we can also access their repairs service which, I'm sure once we're used to it, will be efficient, quick and, in general, inexpensive.  We're building up a full range of refills for all brands, and preparing to put them on the

website...

We do have a new pen on the website - a very special edition from Visconti.  Either have a look on the website HERE or go straight to the somewhat rambling video review, which may give you a better idea how it might M320 Pearl look, click on the picture alongside.

Finally, we know what a load of old romantics you blokes are,and Valentines day is soon upon us, so you'll be dying to know about this lovely little pen from Pelikan, the M320 Pearl.  Again, click on the link and you'll be conveyed in a twang of a cupids bow to this gorgeous thing.  Just right for your gorgeous one?  It's a thought, isn't it!

Making Music

Lots of you have been drawn to the excellent Leuchtturm range of notebooks.  The more musical amongst you will be delighted to know that they have now introduced a music ruling in the "Slim Master" format.  The 121 pages are set out with 13 music staves per page.

It is slightly over A4 size, allowing loose A4 pages to be stored inside it without becoming dog eared.  As with all Leuchtturm A4 journals, it is good 100gm paper, the pages are numbered with a couple of index pages in the front, a folder inside the back cover for storing loose pages and stickers for indexing the spine and front of the book when you've filled it.  Go on - compose!
