Hello all,
The end of August and September are always pretty busy times for us, and a spectacularly good time to be in and around Shrewsbury. There's the famous flower show, followed at the end of the month by The Shrewsbury Folk Festival - we've been in the Craft fair since it came to town and it is one of my favourite events. Then, on the first weekend in September, it's the astonishing Shrewsbury International Street Theatre Festival. For the Friday, Saturday and Sunday the streets are closed and the town is taken over by an amazing array of madness, humour, skill and courage as the top street performers from around the world descend on the town for a final fling before autumn sets in. This year seemed especially good - the weather was great, the acts wonderful and the town was filled with happy, smiling people of all ages. Truly magical - if you weren't there, make sure you get here next year. I don't care where you live - it's worth the trip! Anyway, this isn't selling anything and, as I've mentioned before, the point of this newsletter is to persuade you to buy stuff from us, so on with the commercials! John | |

Ark
Well, maybe we'll hold the commercials for a moment more. many od you contributed animals to the Ark we are sending to the Margaret School in Uganda, and may be wondering
what's happening.
The Ark and animals are sitting safely upstairs in our stockroom, waiting to get to Uganda. Costs to fly it to Uganda would be prohibitive, but British Airways will allow passengers to carry goods for charities free of charge. Margaret West, the founder of the school who lives near Shrewsbury, had hoped that Mutebi Daniel would be visiting her around now, but unfortunately this won't be possible this year. Margaret intends visiting next year, and will take the Ark then.
Unless, of course, any of you are intending to fly to Uganda on British Airways in the next few months, and are willing to help. Please let us know if you are - we'd love to get the Ark to its intended destiantion as soon as possible. Call John on 01743 245950.

Our many websites...
www.writeherekitenow.co.uk is the original site, and the one where you will find our ever growing selection of pens.
www.writeherekites.co.uk is the place for kites and, sooner or later, juggling stuff.
www.writeheretoys.co.uk is the place for Holztiger wooden toys and Folkmanis puppets.
www.writeheregames.co.uk is where you'll find games, puzzles and all sorts.
All will look reassuringly familiar, and there are links at the bottom of each page on each site to all the other sites, so you can get from one to the other. So have a look!

Lamy Special Offer
By the time this gets out, most kids will be back at school, and we can take stock of the damage done to our reserves of Lamy school pens.
One of the lesser known stars of the Lamy range is the Linea. Made of steel, it comes in two attractive finishes - stripes and herringbone. As with all "non school" Lamy's, it comes complete with a converter.
However, we do have a few more of them in the stripes finish than we strictly need, so we're offering these excellent pens to you at a mere £19.95 on the website, and £17.95 if you come to collect it yourself. Have a better look by Clicking Here.
Ever made a mistake? Me neither! But just on the off chance, Lamy have introduced the Ink-X which enable users of their school blue ink to erase any mistakes they may have made and write over them. No use to us, of course, but possibly invaluable to schoolkids. See it Here!

Seasonal Goods
 | | Cavallini Calendar |
Lots of you seem to be thinking about next year already, judging by the sales of calendars and diaries. We reckon that we have the best range of calendars in town - the ever popular Cavalini Calendars are flying out, as they usually do. But we've got all sorts of event calendars, wall planners etc, both artistic and amusing.
There are loads of diaries as well, and we've been delighted by the reception of our new range from Leuchtturm - on the website soon, but if you're really keen and can't get to the shop, give us a ring.
And we've just a couple of the Leuchtturm Academic Year diaries left: teachers do so need to be organised these days!
Anyway, pop in and see what we can do to help you organise next year.

Conklin - a fairly new name
 | | Deco Crest |
If you've been into the shop lately, you'll see that we've got quite a few more Conklin pens in stock. They have been making pens for over 100 years in the United States, and their Crescent Filler was Mark Twain's favourite pen. They look good, are well balanced and feature a steel nib which is a bit more flexible than we're used to. At around £80 - £140, they're a reasonable price for an attractive and distinctive pen that writes well. Have a look at Conklin pens on our website.
If you are interested in the very best in pens, the very special Conklin Deco Crest might be of interest. Using the crescent filler system, this silver overlay pen is the height of luxury. Made in Florence - I suspect by one of our favourite italian pen makers, the Deco Crest is perfect for lovers of fine writing instruments. We're offering it at £899 for the fountain pen, £499 for the ballpoint. |
