Dear ,

Lots of stuff to tell you about this time!  There's a whacky idea for an ideal father's day gift, the winner of the competition at our recent pen day, new stuff from Lamy, a step back in time with Conway Stewart and - you know how kids often prefer playing with the boxes their presents come in?  We have the means to enhance that pleasure - perfect for the smaller ones as the school holidays approach.  So lets get on with it!

Best wishes

A Swinging Father's Day Gift!

It can be a real struggle to find the perfect gift for father's day  But we might just have the answer - the Airchair! Airchair

Cunningly constructed of top quality materials this marvellous hammock will afford Dad the rest and relaxation he so richly deserves.  It's easy and safe to use, and needs just one point to attach it to.  It adjusts to all sizes, and is good for the back.

At just £49.99 it's a great price for a gift he'll be grateful for long after Fathers Day.

In This Issue

Our many websites...

www.writeherekitenow.co.uk is the original site, and the one where you will find our ever growing selection of pens.

www.writeherekites.co.uk  is the place for kites and, sooner or later, juggling stuff.

www.writeheretoys.co.uk is the place for Holztiger wooden toys and Folkmanis puppets.

www.writeheregames.co.uk is where you'll find games, puzzles and all sorts.

All will look reassuringly familiar, and there are links at the bottom of each page on each site to all the other sites, so you can get from one to the other.  So have a look!

Makedo - or better?
Makedo Dollshouse Kit
Makedo Dollshouse Kit

Jonathan came across this stuff at a show recently - and it's a brilliant idea. makedo gives kids an easy to use and safe set of tools and joiners to make almost anything they like out of the sort of stuff we ought to be recycling.

It's great for kids aged about 4 upwards.

Find out more by clicking on the car kit image - you'll see a video which explains far more than I can here.  Click on the dollshouse image to go straight to our website.  And if you want the full story, take a virtual trip to Australia to visit the Makedo Website.

Sheila Humphries
Prize Winner!
Pen Evening

Our recent pen evening was a great success - excellent food from Mrs Hall, a fascinating selection of pens lent by one of our customers, some

very special pens from Visconti bought by Michael Owen, and our own growing range of pens.

The handwriting contest was won by an old friend of the Shop, Sheila Humphries.  She opinied elegantly on the subject "The Fountain Pen is Obsolete", giving short shrift to this ludicrous but common observation in the most elegant of handwriting.

We enjoyed it so much that we'll be doing it again later in the year!

New Pens from Lamy and Conway Stewart
Nexx Olive

From Lamy,. one entirely new pen and pencil, and a new colour for the Nexx. Yes, its the new Olive Nexx - bound to strike a chord with those heading of for the sunbaked fields of Tuscany - or maybe just wanting a fine fountain pen with a
Econ Ballpoint

rubber grip and attractive coloured cap!

Then there is the new Econ, with a pleasing sandblasted steel finish and an altogether modern look.  It's also, as with all Lamys, pleasant to write with and hold.  It's available as both pencil or ballpoints, costing £17.50 or £15.50 respectively.

Finally, and not in the least modern, is Conway Stewart's latest offering - the Coronet Celebration.  As with all of the Celebration range, it is fashioned from engraved black resin.  There is a limited edition of 100 pens using the cartridge converter system and 25 using the extremely old fashioned but effective eyedropper systemCoronet Celebration.  It's a lovely looking pen - on the small side for a Conway Stewart, but still a good size to hold.  The machining and resin give a pleasant look and feel, and it is, of course, pure joy to write with.  The eyedropper filling system is one of the earliets used for fountain pens, and is simplicity itself.  The nib unit is removed and the barrel of the pen filled with ink, using an eyedropper - the sort of thing you put eye drops in with.  You then screw the nib unit back on again, and happily write for a very long time.  Of course, the chaps at Conway Stewart have gone to great lengths to ensure that the whole thing is watertight.  I've secured No 7 of the series - lucky for someone?  Anyway, have a closer look at The Celebration here.

And finally....

I managed to get round the Man vs Horse course last week in 4hr 12 minutes - a little longer than I'd hoped, but giving plenty of scope for improvement next year, when I'm convinced I'll finally crack the four hour barrier.

Just a reminder that on Sunday the 19th I'll be at the Midland Pen Show in Lichfield.  Will you?  More details at MIdlands Pen Show.

Finally, Mrs H and I are off to soak up the sun next week on Orkney and Shetland, so no more newsletters for a couple of weeks at least.

Best Wishes

John
