Hello there,

It's clearly premature to suggest that spring is springing, but the the upcoming Valentine's Day might set the sap rising a little.  We've got lots of cards, from the traditional to the downright odd. We're sure that you'll find something.  We've also got some great Valentines gifts, if you're really keen to impress.

Now if you're not a fan of Valentines, you might want to know who to blame for it.  And it seems that there is no record of a link between St Valentine (about whom almost nothing is known) and romance,  until Geoffrey Chaucer mentioned his Saints day in "The Parlement of Foules"  - the Birds Parliament - in 1382, where he tells that the 14th of February is the day on which birds choose their mates.  The rest, as they say, is history.

See you before the 14th  - a Monday this year, so lets hea

The latest is that they are still on the High Seas, now expected to be delivered to the stockists on the aforementioned Valentines day, 14th February.  However, they won't go out then as our supplier intends checking at least some of them out to avoid disappointment further down the line.  However, he is hoping to ship before the end of that week.

It does seem to be taking forever, for which I'm sorry, but with any luck it will all be sorted soon.

Our many websites...

www.writeherekitenow.co.uk is the original site, and the one where you will find our ever growing selection of pens.

www.writeherekites.co.uk  is the place for kites and, sooner or later, juggling stuff.

www.writeheretoys.co.uk is the place for Holztiger wooden toys and Folkmanis puppets.

www.writeheregames.co.uk is where you'll find games, puzzles and all sorts.

All will look reassuringly familiar, and there are links at the bottom of each page on each site to all the other sites, so you can get from one to the other.  So have a look!

Spring Forward!

I'm looking out of the window, it's nearly 5.00 pm and it is indisputably LIGHT!  So spring must be on the way -  a time for renewal and growth.  We're planning for one and hoping for the other.  Next week we're off to the optimistically named Spring Fair to search out new products to lighten your lives ( and wallets and purses).

So, over the next few weeks there'll be loads of new things from old suppliers, and even newer things from New suppliers appearing on the shelves.  Watch out for Archie Grand notebooks - great colours, heavy paper that is a great friend to even the wettest fountain pen, and titles about people you Have Known and Liked. There are lots -  Gardeners, Husbands, Wives and many more.  Of course, they're all empty.

We've also got a few writing sets in, for adults and children, and will be searching hard for decent Writing Paper and envelopes for the growing number of you who like to send hand written letters.  So much more personal!

Changes afoot..

For once, not a ghastly pun but a suggestion that things might be a bit different in Write Here!  I've not been happy with the way we have been able to display and demonstrate pens.  The plan is to bring them all together in the mid-section of the shop, and make it a bit easier to display, compare, contra

st and, most important, try the pens.  Timescale is a bit uncertain at the moment, but we're hoping to get it sorted before spring is too much advanced.

The first sign of the change is the magnificent new Visconti cabinet.  It is behind the window for the time being, and I've got to say I'll be a bit sad when it moves.  It really grabs the attention when you come into the shop, as it should.  It was intended for a large store in Knightsbridge (ok then, Harrods) but when they didn't want it we decided to adopt it.  It's coping bravely with an understandable sense of lese majeste, and we both have high hopes it will settle happily as the centrepiece of our pens display.

The Ark and Animals

Ark Approaches Launch Date

Our appeal for animals to fill the Holztiger Ark for the Margaret School, Uganda, is going well - but we'd still like to have a few more animals before it sets sail.

We've kept a list of what's been brought, and there are still plenty of animals not as yet on the ark.  We've also got a list of who has given what, which will accompany the Ark to Uganda.

If all this is news to you, check out the school's website HERE.
