The Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District would like to remind residents that although the Check Before You Burn season ends in February, it is still important that Sacramento County residents help improve our air quality by minimizing the days they burn. When individuals do burn, they should practice cleaner burning which will help reduce wintertime air pollution and improve everyone's health by reducing particulate matter caused by wood smoke.
The AQMD would like you to visit their website to read the article regarding the Check Before You Burn rule. The article offers important information about cleaner burning tips and the Change Out Voucher program. The voucher program is on a first come, first served basis. |

Orangevale Chamber of Commerce Newsletter
The Orangevale Juice |
| WELCOME CHAMBER MEMBERS and GUESTS
Are you getting the most out of your Orangevale Chamber membership? If you're unsure ask yourself what the Chamber means to you.
My partner and I are small business owners and we first joined the Chamber only to have a ribbon cutting ceremony to get a bit of inexpensive exposure. I'm sure some of you remember attending our grand opening and re-location grand opening last year and the year before. But after that was over with, I asked myself, what is the point of this membership? I wasn't going to any of the monthly business mixers, networking breakfasts, or events. I'd open up the newsletter to see what the community was up to, and that was about it.
At that point, I decided I was going to make this community organization work for me. I started getting involved with the Chamber here and there. I first attended a few business mixers, which by the way, wasn't so bad after all - I won quite a bit of raffle giveaways; a $150 voucher to get my transmission serviced at California Transmission, a facial from A Touch of Class Day Spa, a flower arrangement from The Flower Shop, a bottle of wine from Orangevale Liquor, and more . It took me some time to start chatting with other business/community members. But once I did I started getting inquiries about what our business had to offer. Whaddya know... I started getting business from other Chamber members and word of mouth!
I evaluated my own spending and decided I was going to support the community by shopping with businesses who were members of the Chamber, and where I was able to. Instead of taking the kids to Baskin Robins, we'd go to Dairy Queen; Mountain Mikes instead of Round Table; Save Mart or Raley's instead of Winco or Safeway; I'd go to WalMart, Sam's Club, and Costco instead of Office Max, Staples, or Office Depot; Sushi Unlimited instead of Mikuni or Blue Nami. And I always mention I am OV Chamber member, that way they know the membership is working.
I ask you to now look at your spending and at your membership and make it work for you! Support the other members as much as you can, it will come back around. Get to know your community! Come to a meeting, a mixer, an event, and bring a business card. Let us know who you are, what you do, and where/when we can shop! Voice your opinion; if a time/day doesn't work for you, if an event was really useful or dull, if you have an idea that we could use... please call or email the Chamber.
Shop Local. Shop Orangevale.

OV Recreation & Park District Begins Master Plan, Seeks Public Input
The Orangevale Recreation and Park District requests your presence at public input meetings to kick off the District's Master Plan. The meetings will be facilitated by PROS Consulting which is tasked with helping the District develop its Master Plan. This is an open forum for all community members to help establish priorities for the future improvement of parks, recreation facilities, programs, and services within the community. The time you invest in this meeting will aid ORPD in taking a resident-driven approach to making decisions that will enrich the future of our community and help make Orangevale a better place to live, work, and play.
The meeting dates and times are Monday, February 22nd and Wednesday, February 24th, from 6-8 p.m. at the Orangevale Community Center, 6826 Hazel Avenue. If you are unable to attend a Community Input Meeting, you can visit the Orangevale Recreation and Park District website at www.ovparks.com and submit your input at any time after the community meetings have taken place.
