Veteran's Ministry News |  As we celebrate the birth of this great nation, let us not forget the brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives in the pursuit of our freedom and liberties. MAYSLAKE MINISTRIES, a 501.c.3 Not for Profit organization in Lombard is offering free weekend retreats for all military men and women suffering from the devastating effects of Post Traumatic Spiritual Stress. Will you please consider becoming a sponsor for a soldier in need? For a donation of $200, you can sponsor a military man or woman for this life-changing weekend retreat. Retreats are held at the Cardinal Stritch Retreat House and are led by Sr. Linda McClenahan, a chaplain and Vietnam Vet. Donations can be sent to Mayslake Ministries, 450 E. 22nd Street, Lombard, Il 60148, care of Dr. Mary Amore, Executive Director. Please consider making a donation in the name or memory of a loved one who has served in the military. No donation is too small or too large. All donations are tax deductible Thank you.

"Finding God in Nature: Canoe Day Trip" |  July 11th we will meet at Mayslake Ministries at 8:30am to drive to Wedron, IL. After a brief canoe demonstration and Opening Prayer we will paddle down the Fox River, stopping for lunch, prayer, and discussion along the way.Please bring a sack lunch; coolers are provided.Cost is $40 per person and includes your canoe rental.

"Expecting Life" A Pregnant Women's Morning of Reflection |  Join us for a morning of spiritual renewal as we prepare ourselvesfor the birth of our babies. We will explore our shared hopes, fears,and dreams for the miraculous gift of new life within each of us.Drawing upon the scriptural stories of our biblical mothers, this
morning of reflection will offer us comfort and inspiration as we journey together into the sacred sisterhood of mothers.

"On Holiday with God" Lake Michigan Summer Harvest |  Join Mayslake Ministries on our innagural trip of the new ministry, "On Holiday with God." Each tour is designed to combine a retreat experience with the joy of travel. Each day with have a theme that will be explored while we visit area attractions. We'll combine scipture, prayer, music, journalling, and art in our time together. Mayslake Ministries affliate staff member, Suzette Horyza will be our retreat/ tour director.
Day 1: Theme: Majesty We'll explore God's majesty today as we journey to the port city of Manitowoc, WI. We'll have lunch at the Lakefront Hotel and take a relaxing 4 hour cruise on Lake Michigan. After which we will check into our hotel for the evening. Day 2: Theme: Serendipity We'll experience God's delights today as we take a dune ride along the shore, visit Frederick Meijer Garden's, and enjoy a glass artisit exhibit. We'll even settle into our hotel and enjoy a sunset on the beach. Day 3: Theme: Abundance We'll return to a simpler time and share in God's abundance as we partake in some natural goodness! You'll be able to pick blueberries at a blueberry farm, and have a picnic lunch at a farm in MI. We'll also enjoy a ride on the farm where we can purchase fresh produce before returning home. On Holiday with God- Botanical Gardens Trip |  The first day trip of "On Holiday with God" will be to the beautiful Chicago Botanical Gardens in Glencoe, IL. We'll start our retreat/trip on the bus ride to the Gardens. We'll include prayer/ reflection as we make our way to this amazing oasis in the subrbs of Chicago. We'll take a narrated tram tour of the magnificent gardens. There will be time for lunch on your own at Garden Cafe. After lunch you'll have time to explore the many gardens on your own. We'll gather for reflection time before returning home. This day promises to lift your spirits and bring us closer to all of God's bundant creation.

Dr. Megan McKenna explores our integral role in God's kingdom of abiding peace and justice. Join us for this mostremarkable event. Dr. Megan McKenna is an internationally known theologian, lecturer, retreat leader, spiritual director and peace and justice activist. She received her doctorate from the Graduate Theological Union, Berkley, CA and has taught all over the world. A long time member of Pax Christi USA, Dr. McKenna currently serves as an Ambassador of Peace for Pax Christi USA.
