| UPGRADING TO NARROWBAND? WE HAVE THE SOLUTION. |
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has
mandated that all non-Federal public safety licensees
using 25 kHz radio systems migrate to narrowband 12.5
kHz channels by January 1, 2013.
As customers begin the change to Narrowband, most will
learn that the radios in their Outdoor Warning Sirens are
not currently narrowband compliant. Perhaps you have
received recommendations to purchase new siren
controllers, or radios to become compliant with the new
FCC regulations. If you have Federal Signal siren equipment, you may be closer to becoming compliant than you think.
Many of our one-way controller units can be upgraded to Narrowband in the field, with an upgrade kit. Most
Federal Signal two-way controller units contain a Motorola CDM750 mobile radio, which can be re-programmed
for Narrowband.
To learn what is needed to make your siren system Narrowband compliant, please give us a call to schedule a
no charge visit, or we are pleased to discuss it with you over the phone. |
| ARE YOU MAINTAINING YOUR SIREN SYSTEM? |
Is your siren system operating properly? If so, you are either providing annual required
maintenance, or if not, it's only a matter of time before some type of problem will
occur. Most sirens are very similar to a car. If you properly maintain it, it will exceed the
expected life span, and if not maintained, small problems will soon turn in to big
problems. While not all sirens can meet the expected life span of the Federal Signal
2001-130 Siren (25-50 Years), you can get the most from your sirens with regular
maintenance.
Over the past 20 years, we have observed many communities replace sirens that have
only been installed a few years. This usually means they are replacing a low quality
product, cheap to purchase, but not designed to last, or a good product that was never
maintained, and has developed problems. Regular maintenance of a siren system, is
much more affordable than the replacement of a siren or siren system.
DH Marketing utilizes regional service centers to provide on-site Maintenance to our customers, at a very
affordable cost. We currently provide service calls, annual maintenance contracts, installations, upgrades and
more. Please give us a call, and let us provide you with a quote for one of the many services we offer. |
| CITIZEN ALERTING |
How do you alert your citizens in the event of an emergency? Hopefully you are using
sirens to warn those outdoors to take shelter, but how do you alert citizens inside their
homes, cars or out of the range of siren?
Some cities use Cable Override, dial down and reverse 911 systems, these can be very
useful, however they often have no redundancy and failures are possible.
Federal Signal offers a solution that provides dial down, text messaging, emails and email pop-ups. This solution can all be controlled via the end user's server, Federal Signal's server or both. Utilizing both servers, allows Federal Signal to send half of the phone calls, text messages, emails and pop-ups, providing faster notification and taking some of the load off of the city's infrastructure. This system offers redundancy with no single point of failure.
Citizens that sign up for this service can select what language they would like to receive messages in, which guarantees the messages are understood. A great feature with this software, allows you to request receipt of the message from your first responders, as well as their location and status.
Federal Signal can integrate your existing sirens with this software, so that when your siren system is activated, an automated message can be sent out alerting everyone of the emergency, and how to proceed.
Please give us a call to discuss how we can design a complete citizen alerting system for you. |

We appreciate the opportunity to provide you with the above information, and look forward to working with you on all of your First Responder needs.
Sincerely,
