Dear Friends,
I hope everyone is having a terrific summer! I have had a great time visiting with many groups in Cobb County since the Session adjourned. If your group would like a legislative update or would like to hear from me on another topic, please contact me.
Please read on for a list of legislation that goes into effect on July 1, information on a scholarship for Cobb County High School graduating seniors, and an upcoming reapportionment meeting. Also, read how you can help me raise bail money to benefit Cobb County Libraries!
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you.
Sincerely,

Bail me out! | |
As part of the Wild West Fest, a fundraiser to benefit Cobb libraries, I have been arrested! I need you to bail me out. I must raise $1,000 to get out of jail. It's not for me but for a wonderful organization that will use the money to promote education, literacy, and cultural awareness: The Cobb Library Foundation!
The Cobb Library Foundation is an investment in the quality of life, the education, and the future of the people in our community. An investment in the Cobb Library Foundation supports the mission of the Cobb County Public Library System to build a stronger community through education and economic growth. As state and local governments continue to reduce funding for libraries and education, it will become more imperative that foundations support these institutions that are faced with the challenges of educating our current and future generations.
I need your help! $25, $50, $100 or any amount you are able to give will help to bail me out of jail, but more importantly you have the opportunity to create an impact of a lifetime.
Please make your tax deductible donation toward my bail on the Foundation's website. Every little bit helps!
Please join us at the Wild West Fest where I will finally be set free (assuming you help me with my bail)! The event is this Saturday from 10am-3pm at Jim Miller Park (2245 Callaway Road, Marietta).

Out and about | |

Since the end of Session, I've enjoyed the opportunity to speak with several groups in and around Cobb County, including the Smyrna Business Association, Marietta Business Association, Generacion Latina, UFCW, East Cobb Democratic Alliance, Cobb ACES, and Atlanta SCORE.
I also enjoyed the opportunity to pause with fellow Cobb County legislators on Memorial Day to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Recently, I was honored to be recognized, along with my colleague Rep. Sheila Jones, Cobb Democratic Party Chair Melissa Pike, and one of my she-ros Pam Flournoy, by the Cobb County Democratic Women at their annual Day Lily Brunch.
