Dear Friends,
Happy Valentine's Day!
The 2011 session is coming along. Last week I co-sponsored the Transparency and Accountability in Government Act. The Transparency in Government Acts seeks to shine a light on the dark corners of state budgeting and earmarks that tend to favor those highest in power.
In these tough economic times, we face the challenge of not only meeting our immediate needs, but also making fiscally sound decisions for the long-term economic well-being of our State. The Transparency in Government Act is a step in that direction.
To track all legislation I've co-sponsored click here.
Thank you,

Smyrna Speaks | Last Thursday, State Senator Doug Stoner and I co-hosted a town hall meeting at the Smyrna Community Center. Despite the heavy rain, nearly thirty constituents turned out to to talk to us. The issues ranged from education to the state budget. Please read more about the town hall here.

Hope Study Committee | |

Recently, I was asked to Co-Chair the HOPE Study Committee for the House Democratic Caucus. HOPE is extremely important to the students of Georgia and we must do all we can to preserve and protect it for future generations. I personally care deeply about this program because I was a HOPE Scholar myself!
Please help us determine the best course of action to save HOPE by taking this poll. Click here to start.
Also, please join me and fellow State Representatives Alisha Morgan and David Wilkerson for a public hearing about HOPE. We want to hear your personal stories and ideas to save HOPE.
