The Arc of the Arts Needs Your Help!

The staff and artists have been experimenting with different types of media. We have discovered that The Arc of the Arts is sorely lacking in technology. To find out ways you can help, please take a look at our wish list. Your contributions make it possible for our artists to develop new skills and gain more knowledge in this creative and challenging program.

What Will They Do Next?

"Bridge to Home"

The Arc of the Capital Area has enjoyed a home at 2818 San Gabriel for almost 50 years.  In 2015, our lease with the City of Austin will expire and the City has informed us that they intend to move into our building.

We have initiated a building campaign in an effort to raise $1.5 Million by December 31, 2012.  This will be phase one toward a $3 Million goal.  We are in need of 10,000 to 12,000 square feet of space which will house The Arc of the Capital Area staff as well as the Arc of the Arts Studio and Gallery.

Contact Susan Eason, Executive Director at 512.476.7044 ext. 208 /season@arcofthecapitalarea.org for more information.

Thank you to everyone who has signed up to play and committed to sponsor "Swinging Fore The Arc with Ed Clements." The event is almost full, but it's not too late to get involved. Here are some ways you can help:

  • Become a Tee Box Sponsor
  • Donate an Item for our Auction
  • Volunteer at the Event

The tournament is scheduled for Monday, May 21st, at the beautiful Onion Creek Golf Club in Austin. It promises to be another fabulous success, with a 12 pm lunch, 1pm shotgun start, and an outstanding silent auction held at the pre-party the night before the event. Celebrity guests Kyle Chandler and Brad Leland from the hit television show "Friday Night Lights," along with local hometown heroes will also be in attendance.

Please visit our website to find sponsorship information.

Sensory Friendly Films

Autism Society has partnered with AMC to bring people affected by disabilities an exciting monthly activity. With this amazing program, they are providing the experience of going to the movies in an environment that is accepting. To make the setting more comfortable for this audience the theatre leaves their lights up and their sound down. The "Silence is Golden" rule is not enforced with this crowd; the audience is allowed to talk, dance, and get up and walk around.

To find out more information about this event, please visit the Autism Society's website.

Austin Fashion Week

August 9-18Austin Fashion Week

The Arc of the Arts' artists have teamed up with local apparel and accessories designers for the 2012 Fashion Week. Together they are creating art and fashion collaborations that will be auctioned off at the Austin Fashion Week Kickoff on August 9, 2012.

In 2009, Launch787 founded Austin Fashion Week. Now, only 3 years later, it has grown considerably. The event includes nearly 22,000 attendees viewing collections showcased from over 100 designers every year. We are incredibly excited about this opportunity for our artists and for our partnership with Launch787.

"Building Bridges" Art Celebration and Auction

October 3

The Arc of the Capital Area will hold its 13th annual "Building Bridges" Art Celebration & Auction, Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at the Hilton-Austin Downtown. Coined as THE art event to attend in Austin, the gala features more than 150 original art pieces. More than 50 percent of the art is created by our artists at the Arc of the Arts Studio and Gallery with the remainder coming from professional donors.

In addition to the amazing art available, the evening is complimented by a stellar silent auction supported by more than 100 local business package donations and a live auction, featuring other original Arc of the Art's masterpieces.

We anticipate this year's event will be better than ever before, and we look forward to seeing you there!
