Arc Employee Niki Robinson Earns Masters Degree
Niki Got a Masters in Social Work from UT, May 22

July 9 marks the 6th anniversary for Nicole (Niki) NikiRobinson as a licensed social worker in the Family and Care Giver Support Department. For the past three years, Niki worked full-time and went to school to earn her Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Texas. Niki is also a single parent of two children (Jacob, 11, and Jessica, 13).

Niki attends ARD meetings regularly with Arc clients and their parents. Niki works with the parents and school professionals to create a good quality IEP for each individual child covered under Special Education. Niki's passion for the children she serves "shines" through on a professional and a personal level. Niki began to loose her sight slowly at the early age of 8 due to a juvenile form of Macular Degeneration. Being a person (and parent) with a disability, she knows the importance of advocating to make sure each individual disabled child is provided with the needed support and services to be successful in school.

Best advice you've received: The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
Best advice to offer: Be kind to yourself and treat others as you would like to be treated.
What's the best invention in the past 50 years? JAWS, my screen reader so that I can go to school and work using a computer.
Where do you go to get away? Out in nature where there is water to float in.
What's the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning? Think, "Wish I didn't have to get up." I am not a morning person.
If you could be anywhere right now, where would you be? On the beach on the island of Kauai

Cooper (pictured above) is Niki's loyal "Leader Dog" who guides her every move. We are very proud of Niki and all of her accomplishments!
