Lifetime Financial Advisors turns 30!
As Lifetime Financial Advisors turns 30 years old, we felt it pertinent to pay homage to the early days of the firm. Many of you have been with our firm for several years, possibly since the beginning. We asked Lou to provide a brief background on how the practice matured from a one man operation to one of LPL Financial's top 100 offices. ________________________________________________________
Written by Lou Oberman
In November, 1980, following five very successful years as a sole financial planner in Torrance, California, my CPA recommended incorporation. My office was in an executive suite with only one employee. In 1984, a CPA invited me to rent an office in his suite, where I remained until moving to the San Diego area in 1988. Shortly after establishing an office in San Diego, I met Steve Van Houten and we both agreed to practice our respective businesses at the same location.
Our relationship materialized to a full partnership in 1995. At that point, we changed the name of our company from Lou Oberman, Inc. to Lifetime Financial Advisors, Inc. We moved to larger quarters in Solana Beach, began hiring new staff, and eventually settling in our current location in Encinitas.
Today, besides Steve and myself, Lifetime Financial Advisors has seven employees and is responsible for client assets exceeding $170 million. Stay tuned for future updates on team members. We look forward to a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2011 and Lifetime's 31st year in business.
