Meal Prep Made Easy

Meals Are Now Searchable by Prep Ease

We've always noted the difficulty of preparing a meal by noting the 'Prep  Prep EaseEase' in the meal chart - but now we've made it searchable!

Check out the newest category in our EZ Meal Planning section - Prep Ease! Now you can search for meals based on how much work you want to do in order to eat, whether you want to just add cool water or Chef-It-Up with a perfectly baked cake.

Super EZ  These meals are super simple! The only step required is adding cool water and a little time.

Easy  These meals require the addition of hot water. Pour hot water over your food, wait a little bit and dig in!
A few of these meals do require an extra step such as cutting up sausage or scrambling eggs - but we'll walk you through it!

Chef-It-Up  Our most challenging meals - but oh, so worth it! This category includes all of our breads (they take a little finessing) and our baked desserts because they require a baking kit

Our Camp Chef Answers Your Questions

I have a particular backcountry recipe  that calls for fresh veggies. If the recipe calls for 2 tablespoons of fresh diced jalapenos, how would that translate to the dehydrated jalapenos? Equal?

You will use much less than the what the recipe calls for when using dehydrated veggies to replace fresh.

As an example - in a single serving soup where we would like a little spicy kick - we would use only 1/4 teaspoon of dehydrated jalapeno peppers in a recipe calling for a quarter of standard sized fresh pepper.

One great resource for learning how fresh ingredients translate to their dried counterparts, is our  Fresh/Dry Equivalencies Chart. This lists every dried ingredient on our site in both a dried measure and its (former) fresh measurement.
