In the pre-Packit Gourmet days, we always felt that traditional commercial backpacking meals failed to deliver the serving size we needed after a long day on the trail. To supplement, some of us would end up eating more than one serving or supplementing with dessert or after-dinner snacks.

So, when we designed our portion sizes we thought about how we felt at the end (or beginning) of a day full of hiking, paddling and climbing. What we came up with were meals that we feel are substantial enough to truly feed a hungry hiker.
