Greetings!
Happy New Year!
A sense of renewal and a strong desire to always refine and improve what we do, drove us to refresh 'Structural Moments' starting this year.
We are also inspired by your feedback and comments on previous issues. Sincere gratitude to those of you who spent time to send their feedback, suggestions and encouraging words since our debut issue in May 2009.
Our goal is to inform, engage and connect with you in a most meaningful and convenient way possible. Please tell us what topics interests you so that we may include them in future issues. Sincerely, Mohammed Thomad, PE, SE Principal |

Protecting Vacant Commercial Property
Vacant commercial properties demand special mitigation challenges for business owners and landlords.
| Class A Office Building Sitting Vacant in Southwest Las Vegas |
Office, retail, industrial, single & multi-family residential are among the hardest hit by the current economic climate. Each of these occupancy categories has its own unique risks. Vacant commercial buildings may cost more to insure than those occupied because they often have more exposure to losses.
Take appropriate measures to reduce the hazards posed by a vacant property and protect the building structure. Call us to schedule an observation, assessment and provide a damage prevention plan. For a detailed list of actions you can take, click here. |
Bellagio Resort Conservatory & Botanical Gardens
| 2011 Chinese New Year Exhibit at Bellagio Conservatory |
One of the most beautiful and lively spaces on the Las Vegas Strip is the Conservatory and Botanical Gardens inside the Bellagio Resort. This must-see attraction changes scenery with every season.
THOMAD Engineering worked with Bellagio to design special theatrical rigging trusses to support the ever-changing magnificent scenery placed overhead throughout the space. The movable steel trusses will supplement the existing rigging system and make operations safer, more flexible and efficient. "These trusses will be life savers", stated Gene Bowling, Manager and rigging expert at Bellagio.
A system of portable and modular steel tables was also re-designed by THOMAD Engineering. These high-load capacity and yet lightweight tables will support gazebos, bridges, ponds, and water features theatrically and uniquely arranged by Bellagio's horticulturists for each season. Treat yourself and take a leisurely stroll in the ever changing personality of this unique attraction. The current exhibit is the 2011 Chinese New Year. It will be open to the general public for free through March 5, 2011.
