Stay focused this summer. Innovate ~ Execute ~ Succeed  

 

The first holiday of the 'summer season' has finally arrived. But don't even think that's an excuse to slow down: your competition isn't going to slow down because they want to eat your lunch. They want you to work shorter days and shorter weeks so they can steal your customers. Stay focused on high payoff activities and don't use the "lazy, hazy days of summer" as an excuse to slack off.

 

Shinto Japanese Steakhouse and Sullivan's Steakhouse are competitors, right? However, to a hungry diner, they are options. So even though you want to crush your competition, your customers, leads, and prospects view your competitors as options, and everybody loves options.

1. Decisions just don't get made.

2. Everybody's on vacation.

3. Everybody mentally shuts down for the summer.

4. It's too hot out.

5. I need a break; all year I bust my butt.

6. I need to work on my tan. 

6.5 My networking team needed a forth for their golf boondoggle.  



6.5 Ways to BBQ Your Competition 

 

1. Pay attention to their ads: stay aware of their "new" products and services.

2. Visit regularly: Are they expanding? Downsizing? Redecorating? 

3. Ask your business colleagues: What's the buzz? 
4. Ask their customers or clients: Why do they do business with them? 

5. Sign up for their newsletters: is it filled with fluff or substance? 

6. Check out their website: is it awesome?  

6.5 Be a customer: Does their product provide value? Is it better than yours? What do they do better than you. What do you do better than them?

Once you understand the competition and all their FAB (Features, Advantages, & Benefits), you can sell with confidence the benefits exclusive to your program.

Now you can fire up the BBQ and have your competition for lunch.
