Greetings!
March, one of our 10 favorite months. The snow is melting. The days are getting longer. The neighbors come out of hibernation although some of them should never leave their house. The dog can roll in the mud. It's a lot easier taking down the Christmas lights. Daffodils and tulips are blooming. March madness football pool.
More distractions to prevent us from achieving our selling goals. Should I thatch the yard or prospect. Both tasks suck. Should I clean up the dog's back yard stuff or follow up with prospects? Should I wash the car or schedule appointments?
Distractions are time wasters and include daydreaming, surfing the net, answering the phone, updating status on facebook, tweeting, linking-in, you tubing, and even reading the dozens on newsletters that streak through our email in-boxes. There is heated debate whether this newsletter, The Cookbook, is a distraction, or a high payoff activity.
Check out the below section on "6.5 Distractions and How to Avoid Them" and your sales will start heating up.
Don't know where to start? Give us a call 630-548-9723 and we will help you identify time-wasters and distractions and get you to focus on high payoff activities. At the same time we'll cook up some amazing solutions to ensure your sales are smokin'. Thank You!

6.5 Distractions and How to Avoid Them
On average, people (you and me) waste about 1.5 hours a day. Think about when the phone rings, or other interruption takes you away from your current task. It takes a minute or so to figure out where you were and then reengage in the task. A couple minutes later... BING.
1. Making Excuses The client won't call me back. The economy is still bad. I don't have enough time. My sales targets are unrealistic. Oh please, may I have some cheese with that whine? Focus on high payoff activities: follow up, schedule a goal session to ensure goals are achievable, and choose to take a time management course on March 21.
2. Email ~ BING you have new mail and have to check it right now. It is best to turn off email and check it every two or three hours. You don't check it when you are on appointments; set an appointment with yourself for 10 and 2 and get some work done.
3. Internet: Twitter | Facebook | Linked-in Same thing applies to these awesome tools; if you are not using facebook and twitter for a work related project, turn them off and check them twice a day. BING.
4. Phone Calls How many times does someone call twice or three times a day asking you how or what or is this alright? Have them start a conference planner. When there are four items on their list for you, then they can call...
5. Interruptions Do people walking by your office just seem to walk in and start talking? You might want to turn your desk around so your back is to the door and it is less inviting. You might get scared/startled once in a while, but your interruptions will decrease. 6. Procrastinating I was going to write a few thoughts about this but I think I'll wait until next month. 6.5. Golfing If we save just 30 minutes of the 1.5 hours of wasted time during our 250 working days, we would capture 16 more days of productive time. That's six days of golf and two weeks of selling. Wrong; unless you are golfing with a suspect, lead, prospect, or client, golfing is not a high payoff activity. Good Luck.

Miller for Mayor Business Development Workshop Series
Kenn Miller, Councilman in Naperville, is a candidate for Mayor of Naperville. He believes the Mayor's job should not only be a cheerleader and ambassador for this great city, but also a Leader.
