Conti di Colloredo Pinot Grigio DOC 2009 Pinot Grigio has gotten a bad reputation in the U.S. as a watery wine best for first time wine drinkers. At the base of all things that are popular there is something great though! As with all wines, Pinot Grigio is best when treated with care and a focus on quality not quantity. Conti di Colloredo offers a lovely expression of the grape at a very affordable price. The wine comes from Friuli Grave, known as one of the best locations for producing Pinot Grigio. Upon opening the easy twist off cap, your nose is greated with hints of white flowers, subtle tropical fruit and smooth almond. Fresh and inviting, this wine is a lovely pair for light fish and soup courses. |

Food & Wine Pairing
Brachetto Berries & Cream
Serves 2 as a perfect dessert
1 cup fresh berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries or any combination thereof), lightly crushed
1 cup Vinchio Vaglio Serra Brachetto (La Passione, La Romantica, Nivasco or San Pancrazio)
1/2 cup whipping cream, chilled
1/4 cup mascarpone, room temperature
2 T powdered sugar
Pinch of fine sea salt
Pour Brachetto over the berries and set aside. Whip together mascarpone, cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Place berries in small serving dish, top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of sea salt. Use additional whole berries or mint for garnish, or if desired for added texture, an amaretti cookie.
Serve with a glass of Brachetto used for the berries.
