Wine Flies When You're Having Fun!
We've really enjoyed our first few months in Missouri wine distribution! St. Louis restaurants and retailers have welcomed us, recognizing that we have the best Italian wine and the best prices in the state. And, as always, loyal St. Louis residents have made our job even easier, asking their favorite wine shop to find our wine.
We are taking the growth slowly, but in the last month we more than doubled our St. Louis client base and Missouri sales are higher than ever before. It's nice to finally visit our favorite restaurants and hotspots and be able to enjoy our fantastic Italian selections! With our small sales force, we still have many of our favorite restaurants and retailers to visit. If you'd like to hear from us sooner rather than later, please call us at 314.865.4925 or email sales representative Eric Reed, eric@ionia-atlantic.com.
Thanks for the support St. Louis!

Vito's kitchen is open late for drinks and dinner after the show and their beautiful patio is perfect for warm nights and sunny afternoons. Take advantage of the great deals Vito's offers such as Happy Hour specials and $5 Pizza & Wine Mondays. Right now you can also find two Ionia Atlantic wine flights on the list. Choose the Piemonte flight for only $10 or the Toscana flight for $12. Both flights allow you to sample three different wines, each as a three ounce glass pour. Vito's patio is one of the best in the city, don't miss it! |
Origins of the Ionia Atlantic Name
I get asked where our company name came from more times than I can count. Yes, we do realize it's a somewhat cumbersome name that lends itself to mispronunciation (I hear it stumbled over at least once a day), but it's been with us since the beginning and we're not letting go of it now! By the way, it is perfectly acceptable to pronounce the first 'I' long, as in \ī-ˈō-nē-ə\, however we will say it with a more Italian flair by pronouncing the first 'I' as a long 'e' sound; \ē-ˈō-nē-ə\.
The Ionian Sea is an arm of the Mediterranean that lies between Southeastern Italy and Greece. As you might remember, our company originates with Nathan living on the East coast of Sicily, enjoying every minute of life by the Ionian Sea.
As Nathan and I clunked down the road in "Old Blue" (a purple pick-up truck Nathan insisted was blue) more than seven years ago, we brainstormed for a name to accompany this crazy business we were cooking up. Hmmm....we would be importing via ship....The romantic thought of old wooden sailing vessels embarking from Sicily on the Ionian Sea, crossing the treacherous Atlantic to deliver delicious items from far away lands to our door....well, as you can see we got carried away with the mystique of the "Old World". And that's the whole point, we still do get carried away with all things Italy and the amazing wines that country provides. And we want you to get carried away right along with us. Grab a glass of your favorite Italian wine, settle in, and let it transport you a little closer to the Ionian Sea.

Food & Wine Pairing
Ragu di Agnello (Lamb Ragu)
Serves Four
1 lb pasta (your choice, but a tubular noodle works well to catch the chunky sauce)
2 shallots, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 lb ground lamb
1 c red wine (such as Fattoria La Ripa Chianti Classico)
1 28oz can diced San Marzano tomatoes
Salt
Pepper
Heat olive oil over medium high in a large skillet. Add shallots and garlic and cook until fragrant, about 3-4 minutes. Add the ground lamb, breaking it up and adding a few pinches of salt and pepper. When the lamb is browned, add the wine and scrape from the bottom of the pan. Add tomatoes, stir and cover. Reduce heat and allow to simmer at least 20 minutes. Toss with your cooked pasta choice.
Serve with Fattoria La Ripa Chianti Classico Riserva
”Buon Appetitio!
