Sandy Adams

It has been a couple of weeks since our annual Fall Symposium and I am still feeling the energy!!   It was exciting to see over 100 members enjoying themselves and expressing an interest in getting involved on the great things going on in our Chapter.  The feedback on our Symposium session speakers was tremendous...please look for reviews of some of our presentations in this Newsbrief and in future issues.  The networking time was valuable -- it was nice to have the time to connect with old friends and make new ones!!  Our Symposium always offers a unique opportunity to share ideas and best practices with other planners.  Please continue to thank our sponsors for allowing us put on this wonderful event!!   Click here for a list of both our Gold Sponsors and Silver Sponsors.

We are already planning next year's Symposium.  If you are interested in joining the planning committee or have speaker ideas, please let us know by emailing admin@fpami.com.

Board Member Ginny Sherrow and I will be heading off the FPA National Leadership Conference in early November.  We will look forward to sharing great information and ideas with you when we return!

We have programs going on all over the state!!  Please watch for invitations or go to our website to see what's going on!

I look forward to seeing you soon.  Remember, DO ONE THING...one good thing leads to another!

Are You Ready for the Compliance Tsunami?

Compliance issues have become a major challenge for financial advisors, involving huge commitments of time and money. And due to the financial meltdown and ensuing attempts to increase oversight across the entire financial services industry, the compliance concerns you're facing today will only increase.

"Right now, with all the change in our industry and loss of client confidence, the most important thing a firm can do is show how prompt and proactive it can be in adapting to the new regulatory environment," says Amy Flourry, operations manager at Rehmann Financial. "Our ECM software solution is a big part of that."

In the Land of Password Management, RoboForm is King

By Sam H. Fawaz CPA, CFP®

Sam H. Fawaz, CPA, CFPOver the years, I've made tens of "Cool Tools" presentations (and the like) around the country and the list of tools has varied widely as time went by.  While many of the tools make it into my presentations once or twice within a span of a few months, one staple that continues to garner the largest audience interest is an inexpensive password manager and form filler known as RoboForm.  It continues to surprise me how many people still aren't using one of these great productivity boosters.  If you're not taking advantage of a password manager in this internet age, let me tell you that you're wasting precious time and probably taking unnecessary security risks.
