| President's Message
By Sandy Adams |
In my first message to you in February, I challenged each of you to commit to Do One Thing in 2010 to help foster the value of financial planning and advance the financial planning profession and to support the work of the FPA of Michigan. Many of you have stepped up to the challenge so far in 2010, participating on our committees, attending education sessions and Lunch and Learns, and providing us with valuable feedback and suggestions for improving your FPA membership experience.
Now that we are several months into our Do One Thing campaign for 2010, WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!! Please take a moment to send us a quick message (Sandy.Adams@RaymondJames.com) to let us know what you've done to meet your Do One Thing challenge. Put "DO ONE THING" in the headline of your message and indicate if you would be willing to have your comments shared in an upcoming Newsbrief. This is your chance to share what you're doing, to share your comments and ideas with your fellow FPA members. We look forward to hearing from you!!
On a separate note, we are spending the summer working hard preparing some exciting programs and new benefits for FPA of Michigan members. Most notably, we are putting the final touches on our annual Fall Symposium, scheduled for September 30th and October 1st. We have excellent speakers and topics lined up...you won't want to miss it. Watch for registration and program information to arrive in your mailbox soon!
I am excited about all that we have accomplished so far this year. Please feel free to contact me any time...we want to know what you are thinking.
I look forward to seeing you all at an upcoming event!

| FPA of Michigan 2010 Annual Fall Symposium
September 30th and October 1st | By now you should be aware that the 2010 edition of the Michigan FPA Fall Symposium is in the can (that's movie speak for edited and ready for showing) and you will be receiving your registration brochure in the coming week. Last year's event was a sell out and this year is looking like it will be as well so don't delay sign up right away!
I can't urge you enough to take advantage of this event, it is an amazing blend of world class learning opportunities not to mention more CFP and insurance CE credits than you can get anywhere else in Michigan in just two great days. This year's event will feature a new twist on meeting your CFP Ethics requirement and frankly I think everyone CFP or not could benefit from this presentation. You see, we're bringing in, a gentleman who found himself on the wrong side of the equation. He will take you along on his personal journey from successful CFP, stockbroker to fugitive and finally incarceration!
Throughout the two days you will have the opportunity to participate in a total of 8 General Session presentations and 2 breakout sessions with a total of 5 topic choices! Whether you want to know about investing in commodities and currencies, or the new health care act, what you can do to help your clients off the fence and into action or what the heck are Absolute Return Strategies and where in the world would you use them, we've got you covered and then some! Have you ever wondered why some planners are quoted in the media so much, or how to deal with the new post-crisis investment world? We know and you can too if you attend this amazing event!
Please also take a minute the next time you see any one of the symposium committee members, Sandy Adams, Ted Bugenski, Claudia Freeman, Ken Klegon and Mary Medonis and let them know how much you appreciate their efforts toward this event! Better yet, tell them thank you and also tell them you've signed up and that you're bringing a friend or your whole office this year!! This gang has worked tirelessly since the week following the 2009 event to put the 2010 program together! You know what they say "Be There or be Square!"
SYMPOSIUM BROCHURES WILL BE MAILED OUT
THE WEEK OF AUGUST 2ND!
