| President's Message
By: Sandy Adams, CFP(r) | "Resilience is really about collaboration and mutual understanding." - Roger Simpson
As a member of the financial planning profession, you know that the last couple of years have been difficult, to say the least. Tough times often help us to reassess why and how we practice, challenging us to improve on the way we do things. Doing the best and most complete work for our clients is of the utmost importance. But, how do we do that?
Professional collaboration, whether within our own firms or with other professionals, is the key to success. It is impossible to be an expert on every topic. Putting yourself in a position to know others who have expertise in areas that you do not will allow you to find the answers you need and will allow you to approach client situations from all of the appropriate angles.
The FPA of Michigan is offering several opportunities to help you meet and establish relationships with other financial professionals:
- We are currently offering opportunities to participate in a Collaborative Roundtable Case Study event. During this three session case study, you will work with small groups of financial planners, estate planning attorneys, CPAs, mortgage planners and insurance professionals to analyze and produce solutions for a realistic client case. Case study sessions start in May - sign-up now!
- In May, our Lansing "Lunch and Learn" begin. Spend your lunch time networking with other financial professionals while having meaningful roundtable discussions about timely topics.
Watch for additional professional networking events and education sessions throughout this year. Do One Thing and attend an event, make a new contact, and collaborate!! We want to help you to be successful...let us know how we can help.

| FPA of Michigan Members Have Spoken
| |
Last month, you may recall, we sent all FPA of Michigan members a survey asking a few questions about the new FPA of Michigan Website. We asked what you, our members, wanted from our website and how it can help you. The majority of the responses stated that members visit the website to learn about upcoming events and to look up contact information on other members. In response to the needs of our members, we have added content and made improvements to our website. We ask that you please visit the new website (www.fpami.com) and spend a few minutes becoming familiar with all the benefits it has to offer.
One item which is offered on the FPA National website which you may not be familiar with is the Online Discussions section. What is Online Discussions you ask...please read:

Ever thought of hiring an intern to help with some of the drudgery tasks in your office?
Well the FPA of Michigan has a plan to assist you with this!
We're looking for volunteers to allow an FPA intern to shadow them and work out of their office for anywhere from a half day to a 2 week assignment.
The FPA Membership Committee is running an intern test program to get students credits for our program. We'll have FPA assignments for the interns, but you can also submit your work requests when you volunteer.
We hope to eventually have access to numerous interns that we can match with planners that need help in their offices.
