 Body Waxing

It's for Everyone!!!

Hair Facts:

Hair removal might be considered a "cosmetic" issue, but managing or removing hair can go beyond simple "cosmetic" problem.

Hair Removal Method:

Shaving or Depilatory lasts several hours to several days.
Tweezing can last 1-3 weeks, but can be quite time consuming.
Waxing lasts 4-8 weeks and is quick and easy.
Sugaring lasts 4-8 weeks and is a little time consuming and can overwork your skin.  Threading can last 1-3 weeks and can be done in small areas only.  Electrolysis takes 1-2 treatments for several years.  Laser removal takes several treatments and can be painful and expensive.

Male Hair Removal:

Most questions I get from men are about back and chest hair.  I usually recommend waxing.  It is less painful, less expensive, and less time consuming than other methods.  It will slow down the hair growth, with continued waxing it will get rid of 80-90% of hair.

Teenagers:

If girls ages 9-11 start with waxing their underarms, legs, and even arms, instead of shaving they will not have to shave all of their life.  It is cheaper and more beneficial in the long run.  Continued waxing between 4-6 months without shaving will get rid of 80-90% of their hair by age 18.  This process is the biggest gift a mother can give to their daughter.

Here at Nalini's Salon and Day Spa, we have discovered from years of experience and research in hair removing methods, that the more you shave the more you stimulate the hair growth.  The myth that "waxing makes your hair grow thicker and darker " it is false, it's shaving that causes that.

Waxing makes your hair growth softer, lighter, and less hair growth.  If you never shave and just wax, hair can be permanently removed with less pain and expense.

Sugaring is Similar to Waxing;  The product is made with sugar and can be easily cleaned off with water.  But waxing is more popular in modern age, because it does not overwork the skin.  If you have long hair enough to pluck, you can wax it more easily than sugaring because sugaring will take several times to remove a small area.  So this can overwork the skin and be painful, time consuming, and sometimes damaging.  Waxing is not painful if it is done correctly, unless you have very course hair due to shaving.

Waxing is going mainstream for Males!

One theory is that it is becoming more acceptable for men to take care of themselves.  While, initially, still an idea that takes time for many men to get used to, body waxing has its advantages.
In a story by Columbia University student Ryan Teague Beckwith, a 25 year old man, identified as Alexander, states, "Shoulder and back hair is a definite way to ensure that you will be sleeping alone at night."  He goes on to explain that he waxes every four to six weeks.
"Waxing is a great way for men to achieve the smooth look that they want,  but are usually not blessed with," agrees Nalini.  "Who wants to be bothered with nicks, cuts, ingrown hair and the fact that shaving causes hair to grow back faster and thicker?  Waxing does the exact opposite."  She explained.

Mothers...Your daughter will
definitely appreciate this in the future!

"I think waxing is great for young women who are beginning to shave their legs and underarms frequently, because the process slows the growth of hair, and the hair that comes back is finer.  Thus, as your teen is getting older her body her body is producing less hair in those areas and reducing the need for her to wax," Nalini continued.

Who wouldn't want to be seventeen with baby-smooth legs and underarms from waxing only 2-4 times a Year?

Nalini's offers a variety of waxing options at a surprisingly affordable prices.  Eyebrow, upper-lip, bikini, brazilian, underarms, arms, legs, chest and back waxes are available.

As usual, Nalinis' at the forefront of the latest trend. Continuing education and training, awareness of the changes in the industry and public,  as well as extremely high professional standards make Nalini's Salon and Day Spa.

Herb of the Month

Chamomile

"Never underestimate the power of Chamomile," says John...

By stimulating digestive secretions and relaxing the muscles of the gut, it helps normalize digestive function.  Chamomile relaxes nerves, reduces inflammation, clears toxins, is active against bacteria, and promotes tissue repair.

Medicinal Uses (for children also):
  • Digestive System
  •
  • Nausea, vomiting, indigestion, or loss of appetite.
  •  Sedative, Anti-spasmodic, and mildly analgestic and will relieve colic, cramps, and other cramping pains.
  •
  • Headaches and migranes
  •
  • Anti-inflammatory
  •
  • Anti-allergenic properties
  •
  • Irritated skin
Homeopathy:
Used for complaints caused by anger or too much caffeine
Emotional Uses:
Chamomile works on the solar plexus chakra. It is very good for either children or adults who have temper tantrums, who express anger which is related to fear and who are prickly, over-sensitive and volatile.

Chamomile quietens, relaxes and centers the person and gives a general sense of well-being, nourishment and security. It is for people who feel emotionally deprived, who feel unloved and uncared for. Chamomile generally helps to ease obstructions, to melt frozen panic or warm up inertia and allows for movement of some kind. Taken as a tea, used as an oil, or burnt as an incense, whenever you feel in need of nourishment and mothering, chamomile can help to seal off the solar plexus and protect a person from draining people or places. In acute cases, put a few drops of the oil on a yellow silk scarf and tie around the solar plexus.

Heather:   Then there are herbs that are specific to the gall bladder called cholagogues. I love that word and I love what they do. Cholagogues help the gall bladder function better. So, some herbs that are cholagogues are chamomile, the different mints, especially spearmint and peppermint, also cardamom is a cholagogue.

John: Oh.

Heather: I also like though to use antilithic herbs, things that break
up stones because frequently if you have gall bladder problems, there are stones that are trying to form if they haven't already. The thing that I love about chamomile, chamomile does all those three things; it's a nervine, it's a cholagogue, and it is an antilithic herb, it will break up stones.

John: Never underestimate the power of chamomile.

Heather: Yes, just simply, chamomile. Now, when I say that, I am not just talking about a chamomile tea bag and whisking that through water really briefly.  I'm talking about a medicinal quality herb and putting a whole cup measure of it into a quart jar, filling that quart jar up with boiling hot water, putting the lid on and letting it steep for two hours.  The resulting liquid from that is not pleasant tasting. If you love chamomile tea, this will ruin it for you for the rest of your life.  [laughing] But, it will save you a $20,000 surgery.  The beauty of chamomile is that it can right all that along, just with that infusion. It is not tasty, but it is effective. If you need to, add some lemon juice to it to turn the taste a little bit, but don't put any honey in to it because the whole point is for it to be extremely bitter.  It does help to break up these gall stones and soothe and sedate your nervous system from stress.
