Marketing Committee Update:

Planning an EVENT in downtown Mount Dora? Contact the marketing committee as soon as the details are available and we will make every effort to market and support the event.

Our event focused marketing has proven to be very successful and will continue throughout 2012 as we create and sponsor even more events to put "feet on the street."  We are happy to sponsor your event with the power of our marketing program.

VisitMountDora(tm) is now on FaceBook .  Join our page and promote your business to over 1500 followers and growing.

Marketing efforts are currently focusing on the upcoming Christmas Season. Please visit www.MountDoraChristmas.com for more information.  If you have an event that will fit the format please submit it.

Our newest promotional tool comes to us once again via our ever-expanding partnership with Cox Events Group.  Cox handles over 30 large events annually throughout the Central FL area and have invited us to participate in any 10 of the events with a VisitMountDora(tm) booth to further our message.

We recently placed a VisitMountDora(tm) booth in the 41st annual Fall Fiesta at Lake Eola that draws over 250,000 visitors.  Other sponsors at the event paid $2600 for their space, our space was gratis based on our new annual marketing agreement with Cox.  At that average rate for space in their top shows VisitMountDora(tm) will save $26,000.

Lake Eola

Many of you were able to take advantage of the booth space at Lake Eola by providing marketing materials for us to hand out to the thousands of visitors to our booth over the two day period.

Stay tuned for additional opportunities as we announce the Cox events we will be attending throughout Central FL.

Events Committee Update:

We are still awaiting the Mount Dora Police Department official estimate of attendance for the 2011 Craft Fair but we are confident no matter what the number is that the attendance was sufficient to ensure most everyone had a fabulous weekend.  We have signed up just shy of 250 of the 2011 exhibitors already and are well on our way to a record breaking year for the number of applications received.

From the Board of Directors:

At the November Board meeting the Board of Directors considered the following:

* Reviewed proposal for a Mount Dora Film Festival

* Agreed to partner with the Blues & Wine Festival for 2012 to expand the event through the addition of a "headliner" and a town-wide wine tasting event.

* Agreed to do away with the toll free number currently in use by the association.  Nearly $300 annual savings.

* Created a "Mount Dora at Nite" committee which will be chaired by Andrew Mullen from the Mount Dora Ghost Walk.

* Agreed to investigate cost and feasibility of acquiring an internet "Hot Spot."  Will allow five users to plug in to the internet anywhere.

* Agreed that membership dues for renewal will be billed December 1 and payable by January 31 to maintain the $160 price.  Otherwise dues will be $180 after January 31.
