Marketing Committee Update: 

 

Planning an EVENT in downtown Mount Dora? Contact the marketing committee as soon as the details are available and we will make every effort to market and support the event.  

  

Our event focused marketing had proven to be very successful and will continue throughout 2011 and 2012.  We are happy to sponsor your event with the power of our marketing program. 

 

All VisitMountDora(tm) members can benefit from the FREE ads in the Orlando Sentinel Spadea Wrap- Remember to submit your line or 2 of copy to promote your business each month. You must respond prior to deadline dates to be included in these ads.

VisitMountDora(tm) is now on FaceBook .  Join our page and promote your business to over 1000 followers and growing.  

 

Marketing efforts are currently focusing on the upcoming Craft Fair, Bicycle Festival, Paws For Mount Dora & Yappy Hour events in October.  We are also promoting the special appearance of Noel Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul & Mary in concert in the Community Building on October 22nd.

 

We are set to air 50+ TV spots on WFTV Channel 9  and WRDQ TV 27 soon accompanied by over 320 Radio spots on WMMO, WDBO, K92, AM580 and the all new 96 Rock for the upcoming Craft Fair.  This represents a hefty increase from last year's promotion and will invariably lead to record breaking attendance once again this year. 

 

Last month we sponsored and promoted the Labor Day Events including $5000 toward the Fireworks Show that by all reports was as fantastic as the attendance.  

Events Committee Update:

 

We are down to the final details leading up to the Craft Fair.  This will be our BEST show ever as reflected by the record number of applications received, over 600 and counting as we are still taking wait list applicants to fill any spots by last minute cancels.

    Central Florida Nature Adventures
From the Board of Directors:

At the September 21st Board meeting the Board of Directors considered the following:

* Approved a contract with Mobile ATM for placement of ATM machines at the Craft Fair and Spring Show.

* Approved the increase of booth fees at the 2012 Spring Show to $125 plus tax instead of $115 including tax.  This will raise additional revenues for VisitMountDora(tm) in a time when our grants from the City are dwindling and likely soon to be eliminated.

* Discussed the ongoing creation of the two raffle baskets for the Craft Fair for revenue generation purposes. 

* Operating Budget outline tweaked and updated.  Will have prepared to present to the membership at the October annual meeting.

* Discussed the Mount Dora Blues & Wine Festival and potential expansion of the event to include many downtown shops and restaurants in a Saturday night event in addition to adding headliner talent to the entertainment lineup.

* Discussed an idea of the future expansion of internet marketing to include a PodCast site dedicated solely to VisitMountDora(tm) events and member businesses.  Additional information will be considered in the future.

* Discussed the volunteer effort of WTDI, LLC to create and maintain a Social Media presence on FaceBook via the VisitMountDora(tm) Facebook page.  Very successful so far with nearly 1200 "friends" and growing.  VisitMountDora(tm) will consider the social media outlets and how to include them in the ongoing marketing campaign.
