From the Board of Directors:
As we look back on 2010 we can take pride in the fact that in spite of the weakest economy in fifty years our association has done a pretty amazing job of stretching it's resources and furthering the goal of "putting feet on the street" of Mount Dora.
Every event the association hosted or sponsored has experienced record breaking attendance and/or revenues in 2010. The Mount Dora Spring Antiques,Collectibles & Crafts Show was the first to benefit from the increased activity. The Spring Show attendance jumped from a historic high of 8,000 to over 58,000 in 2010 according to Mount Dora Police estimates. We had nearly 200 exhibitors on our streets for the Spring Show and expect even more for 2011.
The Mount Dora Craft Fair broke all attendance records in 2010 with Police estimates of 300,000 to 325,000 attendees. Of the nearly 385 exhibitors over 200 of them have already reapplied for the 2011 show online with our new state-of-the-art automated system.
The hiring of a professional event coordinator allowed us to focus our expertise on sponsorships and increased booth space revenues resulting in record revenues for the 2011 Craft Fair. So much so that the association will be bringing on a full time clerical administrator in addition to the event coordinator in 2011. This will allow for even more focus on revenue generating activities and sponsorships.
The association tried a previously unexplored model of sponsoring other Mount Dora events via our ongoing marketing campaign. We were major sponsors in 2010 of the Mount Dora Music Festival, Blues & Wine Festival, Lake Dora Classic Car Show, Plant & Garden Fair, Florida HIghwaymen Summer Art Festival, PAWS for Mount Dora and Movie Time with Oscar. Each of these events reported success and a desire to continue the arrangement in upcoming years.
Stay tuned for the announcement of even more exciting events the association will be creating and sponsoring.
