Marketing Committee Update:
Is your event missing out on amazing promotional opportunities provided by the Merchant Association marketing campaign?
Direct MDVMBA member benefit-Orlando Sentinel monthly SPADEA wrap- Take advantage of the opportunity to have your business & specials or events listed in the Sentinel Spadea wrap going out monthly!
Marketing Committee update for May/June
Orlando Sentinel monthly
wrap:
Marketing
took a
poll to see if members were interested in paying for larger premium
space or
continue to get the smaller free ad space. Votes overwhelmingly
supported free ads. Individual business ads were featured on the
front page as requested by some members. Feedback on the format was
poor.
We will be moving to featuring EVENTS on the front page from now on with
the
thought that EVENTS draw more overall visitors than individual business
ads and
should be given more weight.
There is NO CHARGE to MDVMBA members
Send your
monthly copy to janetcraigsells@comcast.net.
Members
not submitting
copy still get their business listed on the MDVMBA member
map.
Daily
Commercial:
4 quarter page ads featured a
schedule of MDVMBA member supported Events in downtown Mount Dora. The
365
day branding ad continues to draw emails for our database.
Radio:
A portion
of air spots went to support the Blues & Wine Festival as well as
PAWS
for Mount Dora. A generic "Come to Mount Dora" ad as being developed to
air
during months when very few Events are being
promoted. Spots air on WMMO, WDBO and K92
TV:
The
generic Mount Dora promo spots continue to air on LakeFront TV. To see
the
video, go to www.GoMountDora.com
Marketing
also provided a promotional video for the Blues and Wine Festival for
air.
Window Display:
Julie at Julianne's Coastal
Cottage is STILL having difficulty getting ideas to put our MDVMBA
window display together. Main Street Leasing was generous to give us the
use of
a vacant space with street visibility and we need volunteers to help put
it
together. We would like to display MDVMBA accomplishments and use
collateral to inform the public of what MDVMBA is doing. We may also use
the space to highlight MDVMBA businesses. Please go over to Juliannes
and let
her know you would like to help.
Unity in the
Community Marketing Campaign
In
an effort to foster unity
between various groups in Mount Dora, MDVMBA has joined a task group
consisting
of representatives of a number of Mount Dora organizations. Their
mission
is to strengthen relationships and to coordinate promotional and
marketing
efforts. Meetings are open and anyone interested in getting involved can
contact
Janet Craig for dates and times.
Swag:
A GREAT
way to promote yourself at low cost is to support EVENTS with "swag"
(an item from your business). We strongly suggest you donate to
businesses who
bring people to downtown by organizing EVENTS. A gift certificate will
help
the event be more successful and will also make your business stand out
to the
crowd. Even a small $10 gift certificate will encourage customers to
go to your store, restaurant, service or lodging and will give
you a chance to impress them . Studies show the bearer will spend more
than
the gift certificate amount and will also talk to others about your
business after the event. If you are having an EVENT please let us know
and
we will call out for swag from membership.
Thank you, Janet Craig MDVMBA Marketing

From the Board of Directors:
* The Board of Directors is happy to announce that it will be presenting Judy Ransanici, the owner of One Flight Up, before the General Membership on July 28th to be confirmed as the newest Board Member.
* The Board of Directors agreed to amend the name of the Spring Show to include the Antique Dealers who felt left out this year. The new name will be, "Mount Dora Spring Antiques, Collectibles & Crafts Show." We expect the March 2011 show to be even better than this year's event!
* Terry Abbott will be presenting at City Council in an upcoming meeting in an effort to educate the City Council on how much the Association does to promote Mount Dora and to request consideration in lowering and/or waiving our City fees. The membership will be notified of the date of the meeting so that we can be there to support Terry with his presentation.
* In an effort to improve the quality and efficiency of our future Craft Shows the Board of Directors has approved the implementation of a new procedure for accepting booth applications. The application process is now completely automated and beginning with the 2011 Craft Fair we will no longer require payment in full (currently over $300.00) from applicants rather we will collect the jury and application fee (not to exceed $35.00) only. This will allow us to accept potentially many hundreds more applications that we currently do not receive because applicants do not wish to submit $300.00 a year in advance without a guarantee of acceptance.
Here is an example of the types of comments and compliments we are receiving about our automated application system:
I must commend you all,
Bill and I have been doing show for
over 10 years and we have never received a nicer notification that this;
that you have received our app. I would just
like for you all to know how
much we appreciate it and wish promoters would do this. This is a first!
Thanks Angie Campbell Tennessee Twigs ______________________________________________________ * We are happy to report that Kevin Batliner and Grimm DePanicis are returning to assist with the Craft Fair logistics for the 2010 show. Their combined years of experience have made the setup and take down of our events as efficient as can be. * An invitation will be extended to the Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra to return and perform in Donnelly Park during the Craft Fair. Their performance was well received last year and many requests have come in to have them return. * The Board of Directors agreed to support the 2011 Music Festival with $5,000 of in-kind promotion through our marketing campaign. This is the same level of promotion the Association offered for this year's event. Stay tuned....
